The demise of Tom Delay and Duke Cunningham hasn't seemed to help
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 06:09 PM by KoKo01
I read here on DU today that the House in the dead of night over the weekend put back into the Iraq War Funding Bill the right for US to build and maintain Military Bases in Iraq. Both Senate and House previously voted down the Bushies ability to do this.

PBS's Funding is in danger of being cut after a Bill was voted down this year...but Repugs brought it back and "Move On. org." had to get a Petition going to stop in once again.

And...EVERY DAY like CLOCKWORK the Repug bring up new bills taking away our FREEDOMS and Oversight of the Government that we pay taxes to for LOBBYISTS to write our bills.

With TWO MORE YEARS....even with Delay, Cunningham and a few other culprits of this gone....the REPUGS are STILL AT IT!

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE? If Delay was a major WHIP GETTING THESE DARK DEEDS DONE...and HE'S GONE...then why isn't the FEAR OF GOD on the BACKS OF REPUGS WITH BUSH'S POLLS IN THE TANK?

(Please excuse my Shouting and Screaming FULL CAPS...but sheesh...one does wonder):eyes:

1. The rest of them learned by observation.
It's the same old game, just new players taking the lead.

Nazi Republicans.

2. It is because they all work for the Establishment.
It is a much larger and scarier machine then just a few individual cogs like DeLay or even Frist (when his time comes). It is large, controls everything and works against the Peoples best interests. Ike warned us of the Beasts coming, but no one listened so here we are.

3. You are saying: "the well oiled machine decades in progress" can run
on it's own without a "driver." I got it...:-(

6. I'm afraid so, think of the Borg
money is the power source and the Borg/Establishment wields absolute power right now. :(

4. Just as one Zarqawi does not an insurgency make
Neither does this crooked twosome's takedown put an end to the insurgency against democracy here.

5. You realize they're fighting AGAINST us, and not just doin nuthin...
... don't you?

It takes time - especially when neither the press nor a large portion of the public is on our side.

10. I think we are a large portion of the public.
As shown in recent polls, I think the problem is with the MSM and that they give everyone who watches TV the 'perception' that a large portion of the public are against us. I call it propaganda.

12. That public is only VERY recently on our side....
... and they're largely NOT on our side with taxes, & social issues (stupid and bigots)... We've got a lot of work to get the populace to be reasonable moral people.

imo.

The proof is in the pudding - we'll know they're on our side when they VOTE FOR OUR SIDE. There's no other proof.

14. Imo proof is all around us; depending on one factor can be tedious.
Proof is when millions of people march against the Iraqi war vs 100 showing up in support. Proof is the Left telling the truth for 6 years while the Right stands silent. Put all your eggs in the voting basket, not me.

17. What? Bush is at 33% back down!
Sounds to me like at least 60% are on 'our' side!

18. Am I the only one who remembers how "they were all on our side"...
... back before the Presidential election?

Sheesh.

THE ONLY THING THAT COUNTS, AS FAR AS "SIDES" ARE CONCERNED, ARE THE SIDES CHOSEN AT ELECTION TIME.

If these polls don't reflect a change in VOTING PATTERNS, they ain't worth squat.

19. Gheesh!!! Who are 'THEY' in your mind?
Jimminycrickets! The OP was talking about repigs!

You seem to have changed the topic 'to the public'....what public?

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls/
Latest polls:

Direction of Country
Poll-----------------Date -------------Right Direction------Wrong Direction
RCP Average-------05/18 - 06/07--------27.5%---------------64.5%
=====================================================================
AP-Ipsos----------06/05 - 06/07--------26%-----------------70%
Harris---------------06/02 - 06/05--------28%-----------------64%

70% say we're going in the wrong direction! That's HUGE from a year ago!

7. John Boehner, DeLays replacement is slimy as shit.
He's just as crooked and just as mean spirited as DeLay was. Nothing has changed.

8. The laughable thing
is that they tell us that WE don't understand. Au contraire. I'm hoping the proof is in the polling in November.

11. That's what Republicans do
That's why I always object to the idea that there ever were some sort of good traditional Republicans. There never were, not since Lincoln. Any Republican who thinks there were has simply been duped. They went after FDR just like they go after Democrats today, by calling him a communist. They are for the monied interests and that's it.

13. Their "Lock Step" votes sure give pause to the statment that there are
"differences" in Repugs. And, when you count the Dem Gangs of 14 to 8 who vote on Repug Bills with "APPROVAL" depending on the bill...it looks like the Repugs sure do RULE...forever...and ever and ever...

15. As much as Repukes hate communism, they sure do love solidarity
when it comes to closing ranks. Something Dems do horribly, IMO.

16. My 3% rule in reverse
Generally I try to remember that 3% of any given population will completely screw up the works for everybody else. I guess this is the reverse of that. Or maybe Republicans view the few, like Olympia Snowe and uh, somebody, as their 3% screwing up the works.
