Funny story ...bookstore/ann the man...
I went in to eat brunch with my daughter after summer school. AFter we were done, I was going to flip the book covers.

I went up to the counter real sweet like and asked where "the book" was and was told that they didn't put them on the shelf. I expressed my pleasure with that and they said

just because they had to carry it, they didn't have to display it.

It is an independent book store that I intend to patronize this store more often...

2. Don't impugn porno mags by association
Coulter's obscenity is far more toxic and damaging.

14. The difference is that there individuals who actually WANT porn.
Most of the RW propaganda books are bought in bulk by their authors' corporatist backers, and given away free to the faithful, with the leftovers sold in bulk to discount book stores. Most real people rarely plunk down their hard-earned cash once they realize they are being lied to.

6. I was going to flip them over at Barnes & Noble last night
but there were too many of them. I guess they aren't flying off the shelves (or in this case, the special cardboard display).

This website is giving the book away free if you buy their brainwashing CD's.

7. I had a huge fight with my Dad
on the phone, because he tried to say AC was just as bad as those on the left like MM. Sad to say, I hung up on him and haven't talked to him since Friday. I am apologizing via letter sent to him with a dvd "Good Night and Good Luck".

9. Ask him who Moore has advocated assassinating lately.
Really, if he wants to draw that comparison, let him defend it.

25. I had a fight with my dad yesterday
Not about AC but about Hillary, etc. But I gave him good information about Wal Mart. He won't shop there again.

It's hard to have parents who don't 'get it."

20. I wouldn't go there!
See, it works both ways. And that's fine. There are such thing as conservative book stores and religious books stores. No store can carry everything, and someone has to decide what's worthwhile. Choosing quality is not the same as as censorship.

I would prefer to do business with a store that has a wide range of quality materials, but one that doesn't support hateful crap.

23. I would say that there is a huge difference between the two
Al Franken or Michael Moore or Ted Rall are not left-wing equivalents of Ann Coulter just because they all sell books. I lose some respect for people who cannot see the difference, or for people who see the difference but decide not to care because they can profit from sales.

18. if they are independent
then why did they have to carry it?
I was in the business for seven years and I never carried any Rush Limbaugh, OJ Simpson, or L. Ron Hubbard. Or Deepak Chopra.
Never had any requests for them either. Except Deepak, a doctor's wife that I knew from the food Co-op and respected alot, asked me a strange question "Do you ever wonder why you don't have any Deepak Chopra?"

Odd question. I knew full well why I didn't have any Chopra - because I did not order any. I did do special orders though, and nobody ever ordered any Chopra or Limbaugh, although I did get several copies of "Of Pandas and People" and the like for a fundy music teacher. I drew the line, however, at "The Story of O". Sorry, I considered my store to be a "mental health food store" and expecting me to carry, or order, the literary equivalent of cigarettes was just not gonna happen.

19. Yes -- if it really is independent, it doesn't have to carry anything.
Maybe they want to carry some to have in case someone asks but unless they're a chain, they don't "have" to.
