BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Abu Musab al-Zarqawi lived for 52 minutes
after a U.S. warplane bombed his hideout northeast of Baghdad,
and he died of massive internal injuries consistent with those
caused by a bomb blast, the U.S. military said Monday.

1. Internal injuries, tearing, bruising, bleeding, no bullet evidence.
All others were killed instantly.

2. We know that for sure? (killed instantly)
I sure don't, personally. And bombs don't kill in uniform manner, or there'd have been no Oklahoma City bombing survivors.

3. This isn't very humanitarian of me
and I feel bad for thinking this way but I really hope it was 52 minutes of pain and suffering. Zarqawi is one man that I have no sympathy for, I'm glad he's dead.

I admire the hell out of Nick Bergs father for his ability to feel bad for the death of his son's murderer but I just don't have it in me.

4. I'm sick of 24/7 coverage about Zarqawi!
How many more times will the media be showing us his dead picture and how many more ways can the media tell us that Zarqawi is dead? I am more interested in hearing about the poor, dead American kids who were sent to Iraq to fight georgie's war and were killed. We are not allowed to see the returning coffins or to even be given an accurate count of those who have died. This administration tries to show the "good things" that are supposedly happening, but fails to let us know the truly horrible things that are happening. We have to dig to find the truth. I am so sick of bush and his cronies. I want my country back!!

---------------

I only saw Z-Man's pic on my local and national tv news stations, the day after he died.
I haven't seen it since unless it was posted on the internet.
But even here at DU, many have started topics about Z-Man over and over and over...
Ad nauseum!

Hope he suffered for the 52 minutes.

5. On the Today Show, they added that the DNA matched Zarqawi's. Now why
include that and where did they get a sample of his DNA? They had DNA for a few of the 9/11 hijackers too, even though they were never officially listed amongst the dead.......

11. Are you kidding me?
 Think about it!! ;)

Well, many here at DU claimed he was an imaginary human.
Maybe they felt it was important to release that tidbit?

As far as DNA samples? they already said they had informers.
Maybe one of them collected hair or something else that was useful.

In Arab world, Zarqawi tactics bred disgust
Killing of Muslims fed rifts, many say

By Thanassis Cambanis, Globe Staff | June 12, 2006

AMMAN, Jordan --

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's unyielding, lethal anti-Americanism initially won him accolades across
the Arab world. But his terror campaign ultimately killed far more Islamic civilians than
Americans, turning the wave of early support into a tide of revulsion among many Arab Muslims.

"How is this jihad, how is this holy war?" asked Bashar al-Akhras, 24, whose father was killed
in the November 2005 suicide bombings of three Amman hotels, claimed by Zarqawi as retribution
for Jordan's support of US policy in the region.

At one of the hotels shrapnel tore through the wedding party of Akhras's brother killing 17 of
his relatives, including both the bride's parents. His extended family, Akhras said, consists
of hard-working Palestinians who live across the Arab world and are bystanders in the war
between Al Qaeda and the United States.

"If you are fighting foreigners, how come you kill 5,000 Iraqis or other innocent civilians
and only a few Americans?" said Akhras, who said the beliefs of Osama bin Laden and his
followers never appealed to him.
"They have a weird mentality. It is not our religion at all."
