I am surprised by the recent increase in reports of identity theft. While reading through several DU posts on this, I came across this overlooked gem:

Either reporting has increased or I'm only just noticing it. The frequency and magnitude of these data thefts is disturbing. While identity theft is valuable for monetary fraud, I also wonder if it is valuable for election fraud. Is there any correlation between the data that was stolen and contentious political districts?
