3. Smirk, what happens when you try to play the video?
Edited on Sat Jun-10-06 08:42 PM by redacted
There are actually two ways. Either copy/paste the ASX link into your browser, hit return, and it should launch Windows Media Player and play the film. Or, go to the "BBC This World" home page using the link I posted and click on the "play latest episode" button.

One of those two ways should work. If neither works, let me know. I have no trouble playing the video on my computer.

The five disasters are previewed in the link I posted to the "Five Disasters" web page.

4. They are, from memory
London flooding, Paris heatwave, Mumbai (Bombay) rainstorms, Tuvalu being submerged, Shanghai hit by typhoon.

7. Thanks! I am surprised about London flooding - I would think
there are other places which are more likely to see flood disasters than London - namely the Low Countries and cities along the Danube (that's just in Europe). Although, I am sure if things get bad enough, every city near a body of water is going to have problems.

9. It's a British programme, so a British example helps bring it home
for the viewers. The problem of the Netherlands are fairly similar - worse for the lowest areas, but they're not as densely populated as London is.
