1. Do You Have A FREE Link???
I got an email yesterday, but they wanted me to pay to watch it. I've thrown too much money away this year and opted not to pay! And the money wasn't used for MYSELF! Just thought I would add that, I'm a little mad at myself because of it, but I did think I was helping when I was doing it!

Hope it turns out to be a GOOD Conference! Haven't heard much on the news, but then I didn't expect to either.

4. It's not free yet. I have a AAR membership. To see it, it was $10 just for
all days. I understand spending the money (like on candidates, done that myself).

I think AAR will make these available at some point. It's worth it, from what I've seen so far.

What Warner said was to complete with jobs going to places like Bangelore, he would do what he did in Virginia with broadband to rural areas. It helps that people there can stay were they live without having to leave where they grew up. And, since rural areas are cheaper to live in that say, NYC or LA, it cuts cost too. He said that his greatest moment as governor was at a school gym in a very small town -- "100 miles from anywhere" and he announced that 300 software design jobs were heading there. Kudo to someone for thinking how to solve our problems here without giving our jobs to India/China.

I like your picture of Edwards. When I was listening to Warner's speech, I was thinking about how inspiring it is -- just like Edward's speeches.

11. As a Liberal.... My Support For Edwards Surprised Even Me!
He is more moderate than I, but I really do respect him and his wife Elizabeth.

My first choice for the 2008 nominee, he went out after the election, rolled up his sleeves and went to work for those who need it the most! I saw him in person, got to shake his hand and will never forget the experience. He is so sincere even though many say it's just charisma!

I beg to differ, he can really WOW a crowd and deliver a message!

15. Donating To Democrats Or DU Wasn't My Problem....
It was a HUGE amount of money! HUGE! I was trying to save my son... he got addicted to METH!

Lessons learned! I still love him with all my heart but can no longer help him. He finally screwed up enough to land himself in jail. He violated probation and they caught him, tasered him and he's now waiting for his court date. He MAY get 11 months 29 days! And no he WAS not dealing. He just kept screwing up, and they kept catching him and those points add up. I can't tell you the times I felt none of it was real! Nothing like this ever happened in my family! But addiction is a disease and this drug is the mother of all drugs! This family lived almost 18 months of hell! It was HORRIBLE! And yes I know, we still don't have ANY guarantees, but at least he's off the streets! Letting go is extremely difficult!

Again, lessons learned... this one for him!

17. I hate that AAR did that
Edited on Sat Jun-10-06 04:25 PM by Asgaya Dihi
Unless they get a free video out there they end up just preaching to the choir. The people who really need to hear what they are saying are the fence sitters who aren't going to shell out $10 just out of curiosity.

When AAR podcast for free I listened daily, but since they stopped I haven't heard much of a thing from them. Schedule conflicts for the shows I liked. Even among those of us who would like to listen if it was there the urge to nickel and dime us to death costs them an audience.

18. true, but from their perspective, they have to pay the bills. things are
stacked against progressive radio now. I chose to pay for premium to help with that effort and it helps me listen to more of their programming when commercials are cut out.

9. He's going to be tough to beat. I learned that he was one of the
principles in Nextel. He told about his early life, living out of his car, staying with friends. Then, he heard about a good idea with cell phones and jumped on it.

The guy who wrote the book with Kos is endorsing him. Kos said he is thinking about it, but wants to wait a little longer.

29. Jerome Armstrong
-snip

Since May of 2005, he has been working on the undeclared presidential campaign of Mark Warner, a centrist Democrat more in the mold of Hillary Clinton or Evan Bayh than Russ Feingold, the netroots' favorite. Warner joins most prominent Democrats in rejecting calls for the censure of Bush. He has supported parental notification for abortion and refused to propose a date for withdrawal from Iraq. He is also, like Clinton and Bayh, aligned with the DLC, the centrist brain trust behind Bill Clinton's "New Democrat" campaign in 1992 and a vocal opponent of Dean's 2004 presidential campaign. "He has both been sharing ideas and getting ideas from the DLC leadership for many years," said Ellen Qualls, Warner's spokeswoman, adding that Warner attended a DLC book party earlier this month. "Is that the sum total of his record or his rhetoric? No."

Even with the DLC ties, Armstrong, who is employed by Warner's Forward Together PAC, has been remarkably effective in getting his boss a welcoming reception on key sites like DailyKos and MyDD.

30. i liked him the first time i saw him speak. that was about 8 months
ago. my moderate repub husband listened and said he would vote for him. one of my doctors knows him personally. actually his sister is very good friends with warner. my doc has been at events where warner has spoken and he said "he's charming and can work a room". BTW my doc is a repub. i asked him if he would vote for warner. he said "he needs more experience". but this coming from another repub is encouraging.

he is moderate, but my feeling is if we can take back congress in 06 and the white house in 08 -- then we can force a more liberal agenda on our elected officials.

putting a liberal up there will scare people. i don't understand why -- being a liberal myself, but the right talks about us like we're communists.

14. You never heard one from ME! I like him. He needs more
public exposure, because he still seems a little timid when on national TV, but that will come. BC had the same problem.

I've listened to others talk about the way he campaigned in Va., and I think he has the right ideas. When he knew he had to work for the voters who loved NASCAR, he talked to them. Instead of lying, he said, "I don't know anything about NASCAR." Some fans said, come with me and we'll teach you!

He seems to be the real thing. I guess time will tell, but he's definately my second choice! My first choice is Brian Schweitzer, Gov. of Mt. but he says he doesn't want to run. I can only hope time will change his mind!

16. Well you and I are in agreement
Schweitzer is my first choice too.

We'll have to wait another year or so to see if he starts getting more heat and can be persuaded to run.

I think Schweitzer is exactly what we need in '08. A completely fresh face, preferably a Governor or former Governor, someone with elected executive experience, from outside the DC beltway.

And we need a genuine populist. Someone who can catch the imagination of the American public and make them feel hopeful again.

Warner is right behind Schweitzer in my estimation, as the leading candidate to fit this bill.

8. Can you give us a synopsis of what he's saying? I missed the first day
and decided I didn't want to pay the $10 for just a little bit. I watched the parts that were broadcast on cspan, and they were great!

I'm hoping maybe a transcript will be posted somewhere.

12. I didn't know C-SPAN covered it. Good for them/us.
The synopsis was education, technology, science. India/China isn't playing for seconds. He pointed out how wrong it was for troops to be deployed and we here aren't sacrificing. He brought up when he took over as governor of the commonwealth that he leveled with us about the financial state of the commonwealth and made choices to turn around the finances.

He said two years into his programs, VA was declared the best run state in the union.

He is for spending what it takes for developing energy sources other than oil. He was stem cell research. Funding for education.

Basically, under Warner, we become/remain the technology power house on the planet and everyone will have opportunities for education and a chance at the american dream. :bounce:

10. Warne's speaking ability
is getting better and better and better.

He now actually rouses crowds and has some barn burning lines where previously he was pretty ineffective.

If he stays ahead of the curve in his campaigning abilities, he will be very tough for Hillary to beat, imho.

Warner/Feingold would be a very powerful ticket.

31. That would be doable...
I think Warner is Clintonian in his background. A governor from a southern state, of course it isn't really *that* southern, but maybe that will be good. :-) Feingold could play the Al Gore role, except that Al was a "southerner" too.

I think he could be a definite winner. Remember Clinton came out of nowhere.

What is Warner's stance on gay rights?

As a young gay person, I don't see myself voting for someone who is against equality for all people. I know he doesn't support same-sex marriage.

37. Have you had the chance to watch the panel on cspan about
the gay rights ammendment? I think it's America and the Courts. Good panel with some great constitutional attorney's. I watched it today, and I know it's going to be run again.

There were many different points expressed.

Here's a link to watch the video on cspan.

http://www.c-span.org/homepage.asp?Cat=Series&Code=AC&ShowVidNum=7&Rot_Cat_CD=AC&Rot_HT=206&Rot_WD=&ShowVidDays=100&ShowVidDesc=&ArchiveDays=100

If you get the chance to watch, please let me know what you think of their positions. I'm not gay, so I don't think my opinion has much weight on the subject, but I'd be interested in yours.

of course if we get more people in congress who will actually do something - eg john conyers - then maybe we could overcome such a "middle man"
