Something Man Coulter said that needs further sunlight
"Because then if we respond, oh you are questioning their authenticity".

All the right knows how to do is attack peoples authenticity. Kerry isn't a real war hero, Sheehan isn't a real mother, the 9/11 widows don't really care about their loss.

The right never argues the actual issue, they always attack the persons authenticity.

I know we all know this, but we have to use her words to show the rest of America.

2. SIMPLE. point out their tactic openly and loudly.
that's the only way their attack works, if no one calls them on it directly and immediately.

3. but they're already successful in getting attention off them and instead
putting us on the defensive.

I think an all out pre-emtive attack such as by pointing out what they do and then each time they do it say, 'there they go again, see? They don't really want to help Americans they just want to insult your intellegence by smearing a person..."

Ok..so I'm not very good at those Lakoff frames.

5. Lerkfish is right. Pointing out their tactic, instead of
getting defensive, is the way to answer.

Don't buy into their frame; indict it by calling it what it is.

8. Oh hallelujah
Smear and Fear Campaigns. I really like Jon Tester's "shock politics". You're right on the money and that's exactly the way to do it, expose their tactics. Then focus right back on the issues they're trying to avoid, which is why John Kerry said we should all be writing about the 9/11 Commission and security issues left undone. Stop fighting in their ring, drag them into our reality-based ring and they won't be able to win.

9. Point it out
Show people that all the right wants to do is attack people. They don't want to actually debate the 9/11 commission, the security flaws that helped enable 9/11, etc...

They would rather trash the reputations of widows then talk about the issue like adults.

4. whatsername's a seditionist (ie a terrorist)
funk and wagnals dictionary:
sedition = language or conduct directed against public order and the tranquility of the state
> for years rw hacks like limbah-humbug and fatso (coulter) and oreilly and brite hum/foxnews etc have been undermining the legitimate US government; the evidence is easily found to have them put down like rabid hyenas

6. I'd point out that Coulter is not even an authentic human being.
... for starters.

RW pundits are just bullies who are, deep down, chicken-hearted. They cannot take their own medicine, but I say let's ram it down their throats.

I'm generally a nice person, but if I had the opportunity to "debate" with Coulter, Horowitz, Savage, etc. I would be mean as Hell and attack them personally non-stop... and before it all ended, they would be covered in rancid tomatoes.

'No holds barred' with those lizards!

10. I think her point is bogus.
The right did respond to Cindy Sheehan, mightily. To pretend they did not is so bogus. The whole argument is trumped up.

11. They didn't respond to Cindy
They attacked her authenticity. They never answered her simple question, "what is the noble cause".

Coulter was complaining that you can't attack the widows authenticity, not that you can't attack their position.

12. She's merely adopted that tactic - The Big Smear
Edited on Sun Jun-11-06 10:21 AM by sparosnare
I've been observing it for a long time; first when Bush ran for governor here in Texas against Ann Richards. She was smeared as being a lesbian and having a lot of lesbians on her staff. Karl Rove got Bush where he is by doing this; by attacking a person's character and completely avoiding the issues, the facts. Remember what they did to McCain?

What's so rediculous is that their tactics work because the media doesn't hold them accountable and neither does the American people.

13. We have to do it
Here, to our family and friends, to strangers on the street. In emails and phone calls to the media etc...

Don't forget the MSM sparked this story in the first place. There is hope here. If we keep the pressure on it will be Coulter today and O'reilly tomorrow.
