Defending the sacred institution of marriage from gays, only a start..

I've also been pondering the bigger picture. It seems to me that that the gay-marriage ban is simply a defensive measure, designed to stop any further erosion in the War Against Marriage as a Sacred Institution. It only stops further decay -- but the War rages on. Why not go on the attack? Why not try to do something about the real threat to the Institution of Marriage?

That's right: Divorce.

I realized this while poring through the Scripture and trying to unearth any obscure references to how Our Lord most assuredly hates the idea of "gay marriage," and how the Bible prohibits such a thing. I have to admit that such a thing was hard to find, though I did notice that some of the old prophets had twelve wives and a number of concubines as well, which sounds like not an altogether bad proposition. But anyway. On the other hand, the subject of divorce seems to come up a lot, especially with the Big Kahuna Himself, right there in the New Testament:

"So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

"It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."

Ya gotta go to the link to see the rest, its worth the hit:

7. They don't care.
Those are matters of individual sin, which they may piously plan to address later with prayer. But the structure of marrage, why that's God's will for the basic structure of life!

2. Funny how divorcing only sullied the WOMAN
and never the man.

Seriously, if they want to defend marriage, they need to put a long waiting period on REMARRIAGE, end the serial polygamy so many men engage in, dumping wives and families in favor of younger models every few years, stiffing each batch of kids on child support once a new trophy wife has been auditioed and found suitable.

The type of economic justice that removes finances as the major bone of contention in divorces would help, too.

However, they'd rather yell about gays because everybody knows gays are just plain ickydoodle. :sarcasm:

6. "ickydoodle?" LOL!
That sounds kind of fun. I'm going to borrow that word from you. :)

Given that it's usually the women who are getting pushed around, cheated on, and/or abandoned by the men you would think that it would be the men that are sullied. I can't smear you with mud unless it's already all over my hands.

4. Question?
How come only NY recognizes "conjugal duties" and lack thereof as grounds - are no-fault and "irreconcilable differences" supposed to cover the multitude of sexy sins. I imagine in the New American Century, it's not just wives that get those elephant-size headaches!

5. Doesn't Texas already have an anti-divorce law?
Something like a two year cooling off period or something like that?

I love Texas, one of the greatest places in the world, and I wish I still lived there. Unfortunately, also one of the scariest.
