Anyone watching this Travel Committe hearing on CSPAN now?
What a smarmy lovefest between congresspeople and lobbyists. Trying to establish exactly how important private travel is for Congress and staff. No one has yet mentioned the relationship between voting patterns and travel. They learn so much on those trips is the mantra for the day.

...for 800 years of statehood.

2. Trips to the Arctic Refuge
To be objective, lots of Congressmembers spoke of trips to the Arctic Refuge when working to defeat drilling. There is an opportunity for them to learn a lot visiting places that they can't get through a report in DC. How to pay for their trips is the question.
