Ok, ENOUGH!
If I hear one more Republican say "I support Bush because he's a Christian" I'm going to go postal. If one more person says "I respect his religious convictions," I'm going to completely freak out.

Wake the fuck up, people. They aren't even HIS religious convictions! When was the last time that hypocritical asshole went to church? Can you even tell me what religion he belongs to?

He's such a fucking shill..and his sheep-like followers eat it up. All he has to do is CLAIM to be a born-again christian and viola! the fundies go nuts. He tosses them a bone every once in a while (though on a daily basis this administration has some of the most decidedly non-christian policies I've ever seen) and they act like he's the second coming of Christ.

The thing is, the religious right has been duped...though they don't particularly care because of the aforementioned bone they've been tossed. Bush isn't religious. He's not Christian. He's pushing a "religious" agenda in a last ditch effort to revive his poll numbers and re-enforce a wedge issue just in time for the midterms.

sigh...ok...I feel better. Sort of.

6. Practice
Falwell, Robertson, and Dobson have been softening them up for years. If anyone can accept those gits as human, let alone Christian, Dubya's piety isn't such a stretch.

4. idea
Maybe we should all just claim to be born-again, and say that God told ALL of us, en masse, that our views are correct, the war is wrong, homosexuality is a gift from God, etc.

Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 09:41 AM by theHandpuppet
The same fundie neocons, "Move America Forward", who are behind this shameful campaign: http://censurejimmycarter.com/

If these bigots were truly Christians, they would heed these words from the Book of Matthew: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves."

12. He belongs to a Methodist church, and goes quite often, I believe
of course, that doesn't make him a decent human being or mean he acts in Christian ways, just like spouting Bible verses and talking about being a Christian doesn't. That's part of the act, too.

15. Really?
What made me say that is my memory of images of the Clintons leaving church nearly every Sunday. I don't think I've ever seen such a pic of the Bushes.

Of course you're right about the lack of correlation between attending church and being a Christian. I just figured if he actually went, that image would be maximally pimped.

19. He DOESN'T go quite often
The rarity of his appearances at his local church in DC became an minor issue in the '04 campaign, in fact.

Which hardly surprises, that he'd duck out of services, since his own denomination doesn't support him.

27. I guess it depends on how one interprets "quite often"
It certainly seems like often to me given the number of times I've seen him in some church on television.

Is once a month often? Does it matter? Would it matter if he went three times a week?

14. Oh but Bush** IS Christian
That is, Christian in a beer-swilling, Jolene-lovin', cowboy rootin' tootin', ATVin', steel guitar-twangin', wife-beatin', Ku Klux Klannin', church on Sunday/mistress on Mondayin', monster pickupin', Nascar fannin', armchair warmongerin', reality hatin', blue collarin', repressin', regressin', depressin', stick your nose in everyone else's business kind of way. (Not an exhaustive list.)

A uniquely American Christian in other words...and specific to certain regions as well.

(My apologies to all true Christians out there, who may share some of the more innocuous traits above.)

23. I Think You Have It Backwards
Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 09:51 AM by ProfessorGAC
I think they used 9/11 like a wardrum over and over, because they found out that the lie that Silverspoon is a born-again Christian worked. That, my friend, was the first big lie. When that worked, they believed they had a license to steal.

He doesn't use religion like 9/11. He uses 9/11 like he used religion.
The Professor

On Edit: Apologies. I was actually replying to the post just below yours by Alyce Douglas, and clicked on yours instead. Your post, by the way, was pretty funny.

25. He's violated at least 8 of the 10 commandments
As opposed to Clinton, who violated only one

No gods before God - he puts himself, the god of war, and the god of $ before G
No idol worship - he worships the flag and statues of the 10 commandments, and his supporters worship him
Do not take God's name in vain - he uses God's name to get people to vote for him (and it works, unfortunately)
Do not kill - no explaination needed
Do not steal - he steals elections, oil, freedoms, and money
Do not commit adultry - Condi, Gannon, etc.
Do not bear false witness - he does this whenever he opens his mouth
Do not covet - he covets the entire world, it's resources, and its freedoms
