What are the top ten Moments of Conservative Hypocrisy in the last decade?
Edited on Mon Jun-05-06 08:45 PM by Grebrook
What would you put on the list? I'd have to include the following:

*Newt Gingrich cheating on his wife with a 20-something intern, while serving her divorce papers as she was undergoing recovery in the hospital, just before the Clinton Impeachment Trial.
*Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma saying he favored the death penalty for abortion doctors, and admitting later on that he actually performed several abortions during his career
*George W. Bush intervening to "save" Terri Schiavo from a court-ordered termination of life support, after having signed identical laws as governor of Texas to allow patients to be taken off life support if the family could pay for the support
*Michelle Malkin apparently (arguably, not sure yet) being an "anchor baby" herself while ranting about how illegal immigration is destroying America
*Bill O'Reilly condemning Cindy Sheehan for allying herself with "radical left-wing elements" while supporting the Schindler family (Schiavo's family) while they were allied with Randal "Kill all gays, Jews and abortion doctors" Terry
*Bill Frist owning massive amounts of stock in a hospital that performs abortions
*John Ashcroft getting his nephews off drug charges easily as Governor, despite being out-and-out drug DEALERS with as many as sixty marijuana plants in their home and an artificial sunlight and watering system set up, when they were arrested

Then there are, of course, the delicious cliches:
*The cliche Republican congressmen coming out of the closet after an extensive history of anti-gay voting patterns
*The cliche family values Republican found in a sex scandal or drug scandal
*The cliche Republican congressmen who signed the Contract with America and is running again this year in violation of their pledge to only serve 12 years at the maximum

3. I'd have to make a few corrections to your list.
If we're going to discuss hypocrisy and general bad behavior on the part of the GOP, we have to get the details right. There are some inaccuracies in your description of Newt Gingrich's marriages and treatment of his various wives.

Newt Gingrich has long absolutely appalled me, but there are times when he commits his sins one at a time, not in combination, as you suggest in your description.

It's common knowledge that Newt Gingrich has been married three times (at this writing), that he has been unfaithful, and that his divorcing of his first and second wives was reportedly rather cold-blooded. But you've made a composite of a couple of wives. It's Gingrich's first wife who suffered from cancer. It's reported that Gingrich wanted to discuss the terms of their divorce while she was hospitalized, but this took place in the 1980s, not, as you suggest, during impeachment.

Gingrich reportedly carried on an affair with a younger woman (an aide, not an intern) during his second marriage and eventually divorced wife number two for the third. That did take place near the time of the Clinton impeachment.

There are loads of resources on the Web that cover this. I just don't want us to get like those e-mailing maniacs who send urban legends around to unsuspecting friends and family.

of the two little Smith brothers in South Carolina as "this is what happens in a liberal society"....That was before the Smith woman's step-father, a Repuke state party chairman and Christian Coalition member was found to have been molesting her, even after her attempts at suicide. http://www.armchairsubversive.com/

5. All of them claiming to be "patriots"
I think it's rather obvious that they have no love of God or country.
