Every correspondent and talking head is making it very clear that this is simply a political ploy to shore up support.

Unfortunately I don't see that discouraging Conservatives. The Religious Right still supports him even though it is clear that he just uses them and every two years dangles an issue in front of them to get their support, without ever acting on that issue.

How many times have we seen gay marriage brought up then not acted on? Does that piss off supporters? Didn't Bush even say back in 2004 that he woulnd't support a gay marriage ban?
