Marine's Dad Sues Funeral Protesters
GREENBELT, Md. -- The father of a Marine whose funeral was picketed by anti-gay protesters from a fundamentalist Kansas church filed an invasion-of-privacy suit against the demonstrators Monday.

It is believed to be the first lawsuit brought by a soldier's family against Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., whose members routinely demonstrate at military funerals around the country. Members' demonstrations in Colorado prompted lawmakers to approve -- and the governor to sign -- a bill banning protests within certain distances of funerals.

Albert Snyder of York, Pa., the father of Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder, is seeking unspecified damages. The younger Snyder, 20, died March 3 after an accident in the Al Anbar province of Iraq. He was buried in Westminster, Md.

I love how all of a sudden people decided to do something about Phelps. They were fine with it when he protested funerals of aids victims.

1. I'm sorry? All of a sudden?
Phelps has been protesting soldier funerals for quite a while, hasn't he?

5. No doubt, he should be ignored
The press was doing a good job ignoring him until he started targeting the soldier's funerals.

7. And that is the reason
he stepped up to them. People will pay attention for a while over this but as soon as they start to wane he will find something else to do to garner the attention. If you read his bio the pattern is evident.

11. But his legal antics have proved fruitless against the Patriot Guard Rider
Who have an interesting approach to it. One of the few good uses for straight pipes on a motorcycle.

6. Probably.
He has cost our community a bundle. I don't think we ever won anything against this guy.

Yup, he was just an interesting wacko when he only protested gay funerals. I find it hard to get all worked up about the military funerals since nobody cared before.
