Is anyone here knowledgeable about the city of Talil, Iraq?..

I know of someone who is stationed there (National Guard). Not a friend or relative. I'm just wondering if that area is in the thick of the fighting or if things are pretty quiet in that area of the country. I know there's a military base there.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

1. It's in the Dhi Qar province in the South of Iraq

It's reasonble quiet compared to Baghdad (or Fallujah/Al Anbar which is by far the worst province). From the figures it's about half as violent as Baghdad.

on R&R this month, I'm told. I think that's not likely to happen, given that Iran's heating up.
