Air Masks Questioned from WTC clean-up and my LTE to NYTimes
My LTE to the NY Times re: the story of the air mask effectiveness and availability down at the WTC clean-up:

Dear Editor:
"My husband was NYC fireman, involved in the clean-up at the World Trade Center. He has been out of the Fire Department for 3 years now, disabled due to asthma from that clean-up. When Christine Todd Whitman from the EPA said that the air quality was fine, I had serious doubts; in fact, from the moment that the Towers fell, I told anyone who would listen that the only people who should be allowed down there were the men and women in the white Haz-Mat suits. But it was not to be - the firemen, of course, loyally wanted to find their coworkers, and Mayor Guiliani and President Bush found the firemens' presence down there to be a wonderful opportunity for some excellent photo-ops and "bullhorn moments." Neither of them cared about the safety of the workers or they would not have allowed anyone not fully protected onto that pile.

Adigal
New York"

Here is the story from the NY Times; it is long, but worth reading to see how little our govt cares about you, me and the average hero fireman and police officers:

2. I will - I worry about what will happen to all of these people
and that they will be ignored and forgotten.
