all the amazing experts, here on DU, I decided to listen to a couple of his earlier speeches and, contrary to some of the prevailing views, and realizing that those speeches were painstakingly well rehearsed, I found him to be smooth, empathetic and well worth digging into a lot more than I had thought.
However he did not really rock my boat...competent, detail oriented, earnest, but just didn't inspire me as presidential material. So far out stripping chimp chump, of course, that he appeared pretty awesome.
