Christian Wire: Group to erect 10 Commandments display on D.C. land
To: National & State Desks

Contact: Rev. Rob Schenck, President of Faith and Action, 703-447-7686 cell; Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, 202-547-1735, 540-538-4741 cell

WASHINGTON, June 3 /Christian Newswire/ -- Faith organizations to dedicate a public display of the Ten Commandments across the street from the United States Supreme Court.

What: Dedication of stone monument, which has the full text of the Ten Commandments written on it.

When: Saturday, June 3, 4:00 P.M.

Where: The location of the dedication service is 109 2nd Street NE, Washington, DC (across the street from the Supreme Court)

Who: The ceremony will be conducted by Faith and Action along with the Christian Defense Coalition.

This monument is the only public display of the Ten Commandments, which has all the Commandments written out in English, in Washington, D.C.

The groups believe they are well within their constitutional rights to publicly display the Ten Commandments and will challenge any efforts by city officials to remove it.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, “This display serves as a powerful visible reminder to our political and judicial leaders that our nation’s government was founded on the principles contained in the Ten Commandments. Over 75% of Americans support the public display of the Ten Commandments because they realize our communities are safer and healthier when we follow the truths contained in them. We want to make it very clear to Washington, D.C. officials that any efforts to remove this public display would be a violation of the First Amendment and a blatant act of hostility and bigotry toward faith. Under no circumstances will we remove this Ten Commandments monument.”

Rev. Rob Schenck, President of Faith and Action, states, “This public display of the Ten Commandments is all about giving glory to God and advancing the truth. Capitol Hill is in need of both. We expect fierce opposition, but we will vigorously fight for our constitutional right to acknowledge God in the public square.”

1. The lunatics are right on time for election season
“This public display of the Ten Commandments is all about giving glory to God and advancing the truth." BULLSHIT! That "display" is to try to activate their lunatic base.

2. From the Faith and Action website:
Faith and Action is a Christian outreach whose mission is to to reintroduce the Word of God into the public debate surrounding legislation and policy matters. Our mission field spans Pennsylvania Avenue, from the White House to the U.S. Capitol and the U.S. Supreme Court. Through news conferences, symposia, panel discussions, literature distribution, the Internet, and face-to-face conversations with key Washington leaders, we gently confront these critical public policy makers with the powerful claims of the Gospel, as well as reminders of the prominent role that the Word of God played in the creation of our nation and its laws.

"Gently confront" ???

Have you seen Roy Moore's Rockzilla?

It doesn't get any more in your face than that.

Gently confront my ass...

Oh, I forgot, the US Air Force is a bunch of fundys. Maybe we could ask the Saudis for help to enforce American Law.

13. That may not be far from the truth.
Except the American law they'll be enforcing will be the new ones enacted by the Amerikkkan Taliban.

After they finish destroying the Constitution.

And we'll be the ones on the receiving end.

If it should ever come to that.

I can be VERY 'giving' when I put my mind to it.
And fascist, Anti-American creeps like these folks

Anyone who has to live and work with them should be thinking about it.

I doubt I would have any idea just how insane these mothers are if I hadn't moved here.

Dangerously insane, and powerful.

3. Oh really?
“This display serves as a powerful visible reminder to our political and judicial leaders that our nation’s government was founded on the principles contained in the Ten Commandments. Over 75% of Americans support the public display of the Ten Commandments because they realize our communities are safer and healthier when we follow the truths contained in them.

Then why are there no laws against, and penalties for, breaking the commandments? If they are so sacred and the basis for our nation's government, why are they not part of our laws?

Obviously our nation's government was not founded on the principles contained in the Ten Commandments. It is also apparent that over 75% of Americans "realize our communities are safer and healthier when we follow the truths contained in them". Otherwise they would support having laws and penalties for breaking the commandments--and I don't see anybody advocating that. Nor do I actually see many people following the commandments, but merely paying lip service to them. As usual the fundies want big monuments to their religion so they can look moral without actually being moral.

To the fullest extent of the Biblical punisment.

The same with keeping the Sabbath and honoring the parents. We need to get back to Biblical teachings.

27. Two possibilities
1. All Republican politicians would end up in jail
2. Republican politicians would be forced to tell the truth, and would never again get elected.

Either would be suitable.

Must of the people who defend and say we must have this on public property, seem to think commandment #3-10 do not apply to them.
