So I read the RFK Rolling Stone article
and then I read this piece in the WP from last year:

(snip)

"On the eve of Iran's presidential election, President Bush yesterday denounced Tehran's theocracy for manipulating the vote by eliminating candidates and ignoring the "basic requirements" of democracy. Whatever the election's outcome, power will continue to be held by "an unelected few" who are out of step with political changes sweeping the rest of the region, Bush said in a statement released by the White House."

(the rest at:)

Eliminate candidates and that's bad, eliminate voters, well shucks, that's okay ..

2. Jimmy Carter and his group often monitor elections overseas
Maybe they ought to monitor elections in this country.

this link is all I can find. Needless to say I'm sure the panel concluded that everything was hunky-dory.

11. Yeah, I know. I like Carter, too. Disappointed I was.
Meanwhile, Conyers is pretty much universally reviled as an utter crackpot. I think the quote in the article from Olbermann was on target - it's OK to rock the boat, but for Chrissakes, don't suggest that the ocean itself is in trouble.

3. That kind of stuff CAN'T happen in AMERICA...
don't you get it? It's only in those other countries, populated by all those poor brown people, where they just can't seem to get democracy right. Whooaa, that RFKJr is some kind of crackpot! What kind of weed has he been smokin? We've been doin' democracy so long in this country we can do it blindfolded. We can do it with one hand tied behind our back. Hey, we can just put the whole fucking country on autopilot and then help all those other countries who just can't seem to get it right. :sarcasm:

5. What about the Ukraine election that was redone because *
insisted on it because the exit polls were different from the actual votes.

6. I'm sure you could find many other examples -
But when the same thing happens here, we think the EXIT POLLS are faulty. Anyone who knows squat about statistics knows that with the size of the sample there's no way those exit polls were wrong. Are we in denial or what????

7. I think our guys are better at obscuration and crime
Give the Ukrainian elite a few more years to learn to be successful at it.

10. The Ukraine had others looking over their shoulder -
who looks over our shoulder? Who holds America accountable? Certainly not Americans. The rest of the world just shudders and hides under the barroom table, waiting for the power-drunk bully to finally pass out so that things can return to normal.

8. Same year, Romanians did the same thing - also with new results
Of course, in both countries, candidates stuck up for their rights, masses followed.
In 2000 only half was true - with Gore fighting, but telling us to stay home as this is just "a legal matter"
