Also, the man who's the new ambassador (?) who's nephew was gunned down by soldiers.

4. they are discussing the girl's story.
You are going to think I am a horrible person, but that little girl seems to have a touch of "pride" when discussing the murder of her family.

Maybe she is in shock, but it reminds me of how I felt when listening to that woman who said her car was hijacked with her kids in it - and she got out and let them have her car... with her children still strapped into it.

It was tragic to hear, but hard to fathom, same as with the girl. The story about the woman who was dragged to her death, trying to get her toddler out of the car during a carjacking rang more real to me.

Is that really wrong of me?

5. Your link doesn't work for me. I originally heard that the girl was
questioned numerous times and mentioned only once that they might have been waiting for something to happen. I had nothing but sympathy for that little girl, watching her family die, and thought perhaps Haditha is such a dangerous place that fire fights were commonplace. Also remember the family had probably heard the attack on the Marines; maybe that's why she might have been expecting something.

6. her expecting the bomb doesn't bother me
if her father was an insurgent, that doesn't mean her mother and siblings deserved to die for his beliefs. That is Soviet Gulag shit - always wrong.

8. So you think you picked up 'a touch of pride' from this
orphan because her dad was an insurgent and killed a Marine? I don't get it otherwise.

9. No, when she tells her story -
maybe it is because she is numb from telling it so much - but she seems quite unfazed, emotionally. It is creepy in a tragic way.

I cannot relate to how her life must be if she can tell that story so easily. At times it is almost like listening to my kids practicing their "oral essays". That is what I meant. She seems to not mind sharing it- for one so young, hell, even for one as old as me - I just cannot wrap my mind around that.

10. OK, I understand. Yes, she seemed numb. I kept thinking, now
that her family is gone, who will take care of her? I heard our gov't offered to pay $2,500 either per family or dead body. Tonight I heard they now want to dig up the bodies to view the wounds (so they can spin a new story?).
This happened in November. I'm totally disgusted with how this was handled. If soldiers fucked up, punish them and don't try to cover anything up. It's obviously just getting worse.
