21. Before You Criticize the Mods for conservative ads...THINK

They are bilking the corporatocracy big time here.

I mean, the people running the ads have to pay Google,
and Google has to pay DU, for each page-view.

And the people reading DU are even less likely to buy these
products than the average Internet response rate (which, I
understand, to be pretty slim.) The reason they appear on
your screen is because GOOGLE's search engine is geared to
the text on screen. Anything remotely political is geared,
in the eyes of Google, to the right wing. So if enough posts
are made mentioning "Bush" or "immigration" Google will post
an ad for a right-wing survivalist website. Their text ads on
the search engine are even worse.

By the same token, I prefer this to the insidiousness of
mainstream media adverising.

Google (well, no -- the right-wing advertisers) loses money by
this blatant cross-promotion strategy of running all political ads
on all sites. The RWers who come up with silly promotional crap to
sell to their debt-ridden, QVC-addicted, multi-level marketer neighbors
are subsidizing DU!

Would you rather they run car ads and consumer CRAP that
liberals are FAR more likely to buy -- just like all the
"leftist" glossy news/magazines?

I love how nobody complains when they see a car ad on Comedy Central
following some "wonderful" skit by ENTERTAINER Jon Stewart about how
Americans are addicted to cars. And then, guess what? The same people
who post here on DU get used to the idea that it's OK to buy a new
car -- a new, fancy, imported car -- every 3 years! Which is what
Rebublicans and independents also believe.

Everyone watches the same TV and absorbs the same values from ads.
