"Well, if I tell you that, I won't be in the closet anymore, will I?"
"No sir. Loud and proud, sir."
WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT?!?!?
I was listening to the quote again on the Ed Schultz Show. He spent the day defying any Conservative caller to point out which of the Dem questions was not civil. He called Graham's performance contrived. And he also asked the question (paraphrasing), "When have the Republicans been concerned with civility. Was Laura Bush appalled when Cheney told Leahy to go fuck himself? Did she call Mrs. Leahy to tell her to hang in there?" The Republicans have spent the last year calling us closet bigots.
They even tried it with Alito, which only goes to show that when they think they have a strategy that works, having used it for Condi and Gonzalez, they will run with it until it becomes ludicrous. Oh yeah, we Democrats sure do hate Italians. It's almost as if they didn't know what to do with themselves over there at the GOP when Bush nominated a white guy. "Um... um... can we still use the bigotry defense? Or would that be pushing it. Oh what the hell, one more time for old times sake."
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we have a Republican Lousiana Congressman so happy that the hurricane cleaned out the projects. Oh, that's not bigotted, nosiree.
We live in Bizarro World.
