So, I guess the US is setting up to use the Israeli option to go into Iran
The stage is being carefully set. Iran refuses to stop enrichment programs, US cries foul, Israel attacks Iran, US backs Israel as Bush promised when the Israel Prime Minister visited. Israel has carte blanche to do whatever it wants and the Bush has already promised that we will put our children's lives on the line once again to support Israel. It's so damned obvious, it's pitiful. This entire charade of Condi saying US agrees to direct talks with Iran with conditions is the final card in the stacked deck.

1. If that's what Israel wants, let them
do their own damn fighting; I'm tired of our lives being put on the line for Israel.

4. Israel won't act without U.S. bombers backing them up
Israel attack planes don't have the capability to take out Iranian missile batteries pointing at Israeli cities.

It would take U.S. bombers to take them out.

And even then, not all of the missile batteries would be struck, leaving plenty behind to retaliate in Israel cities, in the Green Zone in Iraq and against oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

2. The typical modus operandi of this
administration is to surprise us by bringing events in through the back door. Nothing they do is as it appears. I believe we will invade Iran for no other reason than that is what BushCo wants. Each day I think things can't possibly get any worse, and lo and behold, it does. More than half of this country is on to them and still, they get by with it. The few who tell the truth get shut out most of the time. I don't post much anymore because most of what I feel is already on here, written by others. Things are the way they are but I do not have to like it. I am still waiting for someone, somewhere, to come to our rescue. I may not last until 2008. We used to have newspapers who told the truth. Now, they seem to be owned by traitors. They know exactly what is happening and evidently either condone it or simply do not care. The Washington Post and New York Times are simply pieces of paper that my great-grandfather would have taken to the outhouse to wipe his butt.

3. The rhetoric being spewed...
...forth at Iran now is the equivalent of the "Saddam Hussein must disarm" meaningless phrase Bush so often repeated prior to the illegal, already decided on, invasion of Iraq. It didn't matter at all what Hussein did, Bush was going to invade.

This appears to be very much the same kind of 'prelude to war' rhetoric.
