Haditha question
I've been discussing this with a Bush-loving coworker who finds the whole "massacre thing" to be a matter of opinion, or a wartime necessity.

The last four or five articles I scanned didn't give a number of victims or any breakdown of men/women/children. Does someone have these figures handy?

Thanks very much!

2. From this article, I come up with a total of 23, involving 3 families...

4. Thanks--for some reason I had it at 24, but I couldn't document it
We're winning the hearts and minds, that's for sure.

6. I keep reading 24 also...
so it's hard to say. One civilian is bad enough.

9. Agreed--much less 100,000+
I wish I could believe that Haditha was the only (or even the worst) massacre of this kind.

3. A "wartime necessity"?
That is one sick puppy. Please tell him/her I said so.

5. not looking at the full picture
I wonder if this jerk will see these killings as a wartime necessity when the war comes to our shores? When theres a bullet through his/her child's skull?

8. It's not a necessity to kill those who you purport to liberate
But maybe this repub didn't support W's war because of the liberation claims.

10. Some of our troops in Iraq have been pushed to the "Breaking Point"
Unless they are given proper treatment and counseling, they will commit the same atrocities when they return to the states.

11. I think most are over the breaking point already
Seeing that this one is not unique.

Most soldiers don't commit such atrocities, some commit suicide.

Not to mention the responsibilities of individuals higher up in the chain of command.
