Take this as a warning and a sign of the future for all you blue states...
The DHS has now told New York and Washington that they are at low risk for a terrorist attack and are slashing the budgets for these cities.

Meanwhile, the populations of these two cities are living in a virtual police state and there is a constant atmosphere of paranoia. Roads, parks and buildings are regularly evacuated because of suspicious packages and bomb threats.

Gee, what do New York City and Washington, D.C. have in common?

7. The other thing that this proves...
is that the DHS was not set up to protect the American people. It was set up to be another giant money maker for the defense industry, and another huge pork barrel for Chimp supporters.

9. And they're once again trying to instill fear into the heartland.
Too bad there's people dumb enough to believe them, though I think the emperor's clothes are very transparent at this point.

But the evil Iranians were clever enough to get around our defenses, that's why we have to nuke 'em. See?

8. They claim it "isn't feasible" to inspect every container coming in...
yet, they pat down every little old lady getting on an airplane. They inspect every bag that gets put on an airplane. Excuse me, but couldn't a shipping container packed with dirty bomb explosives do a hell of alot more damage than somebody on an airplane with a shoe bomb? Get real!

27. Total BS, there is an american company that already manufactures
scanning unit built just for this purpose. DHS won't even talk to them. They are selling their machines to countries all over Asia, but amerika isn't interested.

10. We in Portland are screwed, I guess.
Although, to be honest, I can't imagine what terrorists would go after here. I love my city and state, but monuments? I guess they could go after Crater Lake, but what could they do to it?

14. NYC and DC got huge amounts of money to develop sec. infrastructure

I am sympathetic to developing security measures in other parts of the country too.

Of course NYC and DC still deserve massive amounts of money as they are still big targets, but I can see why there is a need to redestribute.

Still, the notion that there are no icons in NYC worth protecting is rediculous.

16. They want us to beg for MORE security
it's all in the playbook. See: Nazi playbook.
And people are doing it.
People are begging our government to dump more money into an unorganized
boy scout troop called DHS and begging for more security and less freedom and all these fuckers have to do is sit back, create the problem and watch everyone scramble until they "save the day" with the bullshit solution. Terrorists ARE NOT COMING FOR US ANY MORE THAN THE COMMIES WERE!!! Goddammit I'm so sick of this mind fuck!!!!

Anyone with half-a-brain knows that the majority of homeland security spending is nothing more than pork. Thus, we hear the squeals.

22. This seems to be a typical 'Pug tactic these days,
Both on the national and state levels.

An example, here in Missouri, Matt Blunt our 'Pug govenor has gone on a systematic campaign of vengance against those counties that dared to vote for his opponent in the '04 election. Columbia Mo, in Boone County, has suffered his wrath. The University of Missouri, located there, has had funding cut time and again since the Boy Blunder took office, and every single grant and program that could be selectively cut to leave us out has been performed. It even has gotten so petty that last summer when the DOT was resurfacing I-70, they didn't touch the section that went through Boone County.

Fortunately, the Boy Blunder has screwed the pooch so bad that even his supporters have turned against him, and he is going down in '08. Still, he has two more years to vent his wrath, unless the scandal involving the privitazation of our Driver's License offices gets legs and knocks his ass out of the govenor's mansion.

26. Two things are saving us in this "Kerry" County of Virginia....
1) Lots of rich and powerful people live here.

2) We have two pretty powerful Repuke Representatives, Tom Davis and Frank Wolf.

Otherwise, we'd be in your shoes.

Your president is doing his level best to get them to "bring it on" because only a terrorist attack on US soil can salvage his dismal poll ratings.
