I am sick and tired of people comparing Bush to Hitler!
Bush stands alone as a unique dictator. While he hasn't yet killed as many people directly, wait until the results of global warming come in. Potentially he could stop now and still hold the record for all time! There may be a day when people compare Hitler to Bush.

19. at least he had a kick-ass seashell collection!
(called off the invasion at the last minute and had the troops collect shells for him ... if Bush had done that, Iraq wouldn't be in chaos today)

4. It would be unfair ether way
No two people are alike, and for sure Bush is noting like Hitler and there reasons for doing the things they do is for far different reasons.
But if their are policies that are the same i think it fair game to compare them to the policies of any other despot or lunnie ruler.

I mean, out of thousands of submissions, they find two. They're like fu--ing looking for Hitler in a haystack. You now? I mean, George Bush is not Hitler. He would be if he fu--ing applied himself." big, extended applause) "I mean he just isn't."

8. I'd compare him more to Stalin and/or Mussolini
At least in terms of the insane amount of propaganda he's leveled on us. At the taxpayer's expense no less.

like the more apt comparison.

10. Nero, Hitler and Stalin all had the advantage of brains.
I admit he is figure-heading-up a truly vicious team, but the man is doing it without raising a sweat or thinking! He is truly an Idiot dictator savant!

13. Actually, if you want to talk about the results of global warming...
and of peak oil (another potentially looming crisis we face), people are going to blame AMERICANS. And they'll be right. Because it's our fault for being selfish, wasteful hogs. No other nation on the planet has burnt as much in fossil fuels or used as much of the world's oil supply as the USA. And Bush had very little to do with it.

If there's one thing they truly can't stand hearing, it's that Bush resembles Hitler.

15. What you say is understandable
However, I think that those of us who compare Nazi Germany to the current and horrific regime here in the United States on occasion, do so because we are afraid not of calling Bush another Hitler, but making cautionary warnings about the subtlety in which Hitler and the Nazis took over Germany in the first place, and about the gradual acceptance of many of the procedures (by the German people) of the terrible things that they did in the name of their "fatherland." Goebbels was a master propaganda minister and was adept at turning a lot of untenable issues into something less unsavory simply through doublespeak and through pure ability to lie with a straight face.

We've encountered such techniques in the current US regime, and it's because some of us will not be seduced by madmen that we make the comparison.

Everyone on DU has a right to their opinion, of course, and as with others who have found elements of discussion not to their liking, we suggest you hide the threads which offend you, or put authors of such material on ignore.

The Democratic Party is a very large one, and there are bound to be differences of opinions on many topics. We can't please everyone at the same time, and as in the past, we should not have to walk on eggshells to accommodate those who don't like something that is being said. As it happens, many of us have very strong views, and we do understand when someone doesn't want to hear what we are saying.

One of my best friends used to say, "I don't agree with you, but I will defend to my death your right to say it." This is what the founding fathers of the country wanted when they established the Constitution--this is the element of Free Speech which allows us all to state what we want, when we want, and where we want. It's such a shame that Bush and his ilk are trying to yank that, as well as so many more rights, from right under us.

16. Bush is an alcohol-addled, sociopathic, warmongering NAZI.
Bush, like Hitler, led their respective nations' military into a war of aggression. In the process, they killed millions.

The only difference is, Bush had a son. He's a cocaine-addled, psychotic, moronic, warmongering NAZI.

Know your BFEE: Like a NAZI
