Tweety's daily bending over backwards for Shrub
Edited on Tue May-30-06 05:11 PM by UTUSN
First, on the Haditha Massacre, he had on a couple of namby pamby military "experts" who said it was all a matter of "bad apples." They made it clear that this MASSACRE was NOT being investigated the way My Lai was, "the gold standard". In a later segment, Tweety said that "Thank God" Shrub had said what he did about Abu Gareb, yeah-right.

Then there was a segment about a yakfest at the White House about "what to do better." Two MSNBC consultants were present and said it was about six presenters from different backgrounds/disciplines saying their say. Tweety kept asking whether Shrub had asked anything, whether Shrub asked whether-it-was-a-mistake. The two tried to hedge, but eventually spit out that it wasn't about a dialog, that the theme was not the existence of the Iraq Attack at all but "what we can do better." Tweety constructed a fantasy question from Shrub, "Did he say, look, we have 2000 dead, did we do wrong?" They sheepishly said, again, that Shrub showed NO such inclination, that there was NO dialog, that 6 people basically said something.

Tweety asked what-the-hell-was-ROVE-doing there? Wasn't he OUT of Policy and ONLY into Politics? Did his presence there mean he's using this confab for political strategizing? The two dweeb guests could only repeat that there appeared to be a dead space where Shrub was. This is where he stuck in how great it was that Shrub had mentioned Abu Gareb.

Then there was a segment on OBAMA as the unHillary. He did at least TWO days on "the CLINTON marriage" last week. He kept asking, "WHAT HAS HE DONE?" It's not a question he ever asked in Campaign 2000 about Shrub.

1. Saw that.....
....it was disgraceful to say the least. I used to be able to stomach Matthews - but anymore he's just annoying in his ass kissing of Bush. Time for him to move to FOX News maybe.........

2. I don't think Gen. Batiste is "namby pamby".
He had the grit to call for Rumsfeld to be fired. He's one of the Gang Of Eight former generals that has lambasted the Pentagon and Bush Administration.

4. there's growing dissatisfaction with Obama among black people in Illinois
I was listening to Nate Clay this past Sunday morning in the wee hours. He mentioned that there was a group of black Illinois citizens forming to discuss Obama. The group seemed to be open to delivering a white paper on Obama on why they feel he's lacking.

You might give a listen to Nate on WLS, midnight Central time on Sunday morning. I believe that he'll speak more about this in the weeks ahead. Nate is very well informed and the only liberal talker I know of on WLS.

5. Tweety doesn't necessarily bend over backwards for Bush.
He just bends over.

6. seems to be a repetition of the lies they uses re the My Lai massacre
...(snip)
Powell drafted a response on Dec. 13, 1968. He admitted to no pattern of wrongdoing. Powell claimed that U.S. soldiers in Vietnam were taught to treat Vietnamese courteously and respectfully. The Americal troops also had gone through an hour-long course on how to treat prisoners of war under the Geneva Conventions, Powell noted.

"There may be isolated cases of mistreatment of civilians and POWs," Powell wrote in 1968. But "this by no means reflects the general attitude throughout the Division." Indeed, Powell's memo faulted Glen for not complaining earlier and for failing to be more specific in his letter.

Powell reported back exactly what his superiors wanted to hear. "In direct refutation of this portrayal," Powell concluded, "is the fact that relations between Americal soldiers and the Vietnamese people are excellent."

Powell's findings, of course, were false. "(snip)
