Re: Haditha..."Don't you remember Arab kids cheering after 9/11?"
"The children were cheering, dancing on cars and eating chocolate! And you feel sorry for the people who made the Twin Towers fall?" This is what a coworker said to me about the massacre. So. How on earth do you cure a nation whose soul has been changed? :(

Your coworker talks much.

10. My fear is that mindset is not isolated.
The coworker in question of course gets every bit of 'information' from FOX.

Within that 29% that still supports Bush, you can find several million of them, enough for an army to do its leader's bidding.

2. I also remember the memorials erected throughout the Arab world
when the death toll started to sink in. I also remember that CNN was caught red handed substituting footage of a completely different event. The most touching memorial was in East Jerusalem.

5. A) It was old footage of Palestinians who were supposedly cheering
B) All Arabs are not 'the same'. Obviously. Your coworker is a racist ignoramous who's breathing air that the rest of us could probably put to better use. C) The only way our soul can be cured is through an extra-double heaping serving of humility. And BOY are we going to get it (IMHO)...

6. #1, Iraqis didn't make the towers fall, and #2, we're talking about
young boys and girls! They mimic their elders and don't necessarily know what they're cheering about to begin with. So, it's okay to kill kids for no reason? Your co-worker has some screws lose, if you ask me.

 Besides which I also remember seeing cheering in a bar on the night of "shock and awe" in America. People were toasting each other and hooting and hollering and cheering as American bombs blasted the fark out of Iraqi citizens.

12. I've gotta admit, my first reactions were amazement and horror
then, I wondered what would make some people do that. They didn't just wake up one day and decide out of the blue to crash planes into the towers. U.S. foriegn policy in the Middle East has been oil centered for years. Why are we not liked? Why was the USS Cole bombed? If they were doing the same BS to us in our part of the world, we would be outraged too. Our entire foriegn policy is shaped by lust for money and resources. We will never be truly safe until we stop being the big bully on the block.

18. Changed? NOT. This nation has ALWAYS reveled in...
... the mistreatment of brown people. And they've ALWAYS come up with rationalizations for it. And then afterwards - they ALWAYS emphasize how "not about race" it was. But because of the HUGE "it's not about race" contingent, this behavior ends up being "new" EVERY TIME. This is only "new" behavior to a certain special segment of America, imo.

Why? Because when the attacks occured, it was nighttime in that part of the world! The "librul" media just used footage from some other past celebration to arouse anti-ME sentiments in Americans.
