Bush Reassures "The Markets" That They Can't Believe A Word He Says...
Edited on Tue May-30-06 03:26 PM by kpete
VIDEO: Bush Caught In Lie About Snow Resignation
Watch it:

On May 25th, President Bush said that Treasury Secretary John Snow had not given him any indication that he was leaving soon:

PRESIDENT BUSH: Secretary of Treasury Snow?

Q Has he given you any indication he intends to leave his job any time soon?…

PRESIDENT BUSH: No, he has not talked to me about resignation. I think he’s doing a fine job.

In fact, not only had Snow indicated he was leaving, President Bush had already settled on his replacement. Today, Tony Snow said that Hank Paulson was offered the job on May 20 and accepted a day later:

QUESTION: Do you have any tick tock on the Paulson…

SNOW: Yes. The tick tock is the two of them met on the 20th of May and there was a conversation. And Hank Paulson accepted the job a day later. That was subject to clearance. It does take time, especially for a Senate confirmable position, to complete those. So it did take time to get some of those clearances wrapped up.

Later in the briefing, Tony Snow essentially admitted that Bush misled the public, claiming it was necessary to protect the market:

Bush is incapable of telling the truth, even if it doesn't make any difference. He has to lie. He's a sociopath.

10. How do you know he lied?
It is possible he just didn't know that Snow was resigning nor that "he" had picked a replacement yet. You must believe Bush actually runs the show there.

15. Your take on the situation is the most logical I've heard so far...
It seems that most people can't even wrap their minds around such a concept. I keep my anti~bush bumperstickers around because I feel like the majority of voters understand that sort of neatly wrapped tidbit better. Sad though.

with his replacement on May 20 and offered him the job. He was asked on the 25th of May whether or not Sec Snow was resigning. if he didn't know Sec Snow was resigning, then why was he offering someone else his job?

17. Stop Protecting Me!!
May I cast my vote to say I don’t want to be “protected” any longer? I just can’t keep up with the guidelines so I want to opt out and protect myself…what with programs to listen to my phone calls to protect me from terrorists…amendments to protect me from gay marriage…tax cuts for the wealthy to protect the economy…new fines for television networks to protect me from Janet Jackson’s breast…abstinence programs to protect me from sex and sin…passage of the English language to protect me from losing my cultural identity.

I’m feeling overprotected…and “Doctor” Dobson thinks that might make me gay…and we wouldn’t want that to happen…not that there’s anything wrong with that…right?

Actually, now that I've said it out loud, I kind of like that phrase for any * crony in office. Someone mentions their name and the reply is, "Boy, that turd won't flush."

31. Bush lied to "protect the market"? Isn't that exactly what Ken Lay did?
And didn't they charge Martha Stewart with the same thing?

And this lie is quite bold and in your face. He could have sid "no comment". Or he could have said a non-sequiter like "I imagine that at some point some members of my Cabinet will decide on their own terms if their term of public service should end." But he did actually tell a flat-out LIE. Well, at least now we know the President will tell a bold-faced lie in order to protect the market. What else does he do to "protect the market"? Cheney's energy meetings were all about protecting a certain market as well. They are just shills and corporate front men in the transfer of national assets that is taking place.

32. Was that also why they lied when he fell off his bike?
Remember, he had a biking accident a few years back and then claimed he had slipped in the mud from the rain? Then, somebody checked online and it hadn't rained in Crawford in like 9 days....

was that lie also to protect the markets?

37. It's called "selling short"
It's easy. Finding out that the SecTreas was resigning and being replaced with an enviromentalist economist, Bush and company had to keep it quiet so that various fatcats could arrange their stocks so that once the market fell by a few hundred points on the uncertainty, they could make a killing on short-selling.

Wikipedia has an article about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selling_short

Of course, I'm positive if the Justice Department tried to investigate, their investigators would be unable to get security clearance. Bush and Co. would naturally rate this information "Top Ultimate Secret" and critial to national security.

I would suggest buying stock in companies that make squeegees. We're gonna need a lot of them to clean the slime left by Bush 43.
