10 freepers at their protest today - 10!!
Approximately 10 people from the Washington, D.C., chapter of FreeRepublic.com, a self-styled grass roots conservative group, stood across the road with signs supporting U.S. troops. A large sign held by several people said, "God bless our troops, defenders of freedom, American heroes."

1. Were there more port-a-potties than protesters?
They need a lot of port-a potties due to the fact that they are all so FULL OF SHIT!

6. The porta-potties are to draw the swarms of greenflies away from
Rim-Job. But it don't fool the flies for very long they know the Mother Of All Turds when they see one! Freepers are like flies and that is what attracts them to Rim... That is why you can't trust a Republick'em in a shithouse with a muzzle on! They thrive on pure old shit, like all veggies do! They eat up every speck of BUSHIT they come in contact with and they are always lookin' for more.

Edited on Mon May-29-06 05:04 PM by stop the bleeding
we could have a thousand people in the streets and the media would be worried about a missing white girl. I know Phelps probably had something to do with ABC's coverage - but 10?!?!? and that makes news?

3. They Were Trying To Counteract Phelps
and his obnoxious spawn. As much as I hate to say something nice about the Freepers, I do have to give them props for that.

12. Another what? A person who can see past surface hatreds and
knee-jerk reactions to see when a certain demonstration is a good idea? It might help you to see the world in more than black and white.

9. Uh Huh
Usually Du'ers are protesting with more than 10 people. Free Republic is not exactly worthy of a protest.

11. In this case the Freeper protest is right on the money
Tell me when has DU organized a demonstration against the Phelps gang? Its a sad day when all we can do is snicker at other people's activism, especially when its for a good cause.

35. Why Would We Protest Phelps?
giving the loon more attention is not really a positive thing. But hey... knee-jerk away pal all you want. You happen to be a DU member, so send yourself to wherever the nut job is. And if you are so disappointed that DU members don't involve themselves with Mr. Nutjob, then maybe you should hang at Freepland, where you can pretend to be a patriot.

30. I will admit I am not one of them
Phelps is so nasty. If you counter protest, he jots down license tag numbers and then finds out who you are. He then floods you with phone calls, emails and faxes. He literally sends VOLUMES of faxes out every single day to his enemies. He has also been known to file false reports with the IRS and child abuse hotline. He plays very very dirty. I am hesitant to even post this on the internet.

You guys have no idea how truly evil this man is.

22. they will never live down the potty wars
For those who might not know the story, the Freepers in Washington had quite a tizzy a few years ago when they had another one of their "massive" protests of a dozen or so members and had to guard their rented porta potties to keep dirty folks from using them. The whole fuss was quite amusing.

24.  Who really cares?
I went to all the big east coast demonstrations leading up to and during the early part of the Iraq invasion. I saw very few demonstrating in support of the war, maybe 25 supporting, 500,000 against. The invasion happened anyway. The message is it wasn't about what average Americans wanted. It was about what a select few of our political leaders wanted. That's why the protest had no real affect. A few wealthy, powerful people can do as they please and they don't have to be concerned about what we want. Like it or not Bush got away with just about everything. We can spend the next two years complaining but little is going to change. We're stuck with Iraq, the deficit and dysfunctional government. I'd like to think people have some input into government but I wonder?

than sit at home and get upset about the shit going on in this country. My husband asked me the other day if I thought our protests accomplished anything. I said yes, 2 things: 1)it causes the passing motorist who sees us to think for even a second about the war and the evil bush administration and 2)it makes me feel like I am doing SOMETHING other than just getting pissed off.
