I went to a memorial day service, today. And, it was heart-breaking how divorced the pretty words honoring vets are comparitively to the reality of how we treat them in every day life.
Bush will place a wreath on a soldiers grave, today. He will then use that tragic soldier's life as a political propaganda tool to show his committment to the troops.
Bush doesn't honor any soldier. He has committed treason against them all.
He deliberately lied to place them in harm's way. He started a disaster of a war that never needed to be fought. Then, he wrecklessly implemented a 'strategy' that left them under manned and under-equipped. He conducted a war like he was playing with lead toy soldiers.
If America truly wanted to honor its troops, it would remove the entire Bush adminstration from office. We would tell our troops that never again will we tolerate a dishonest and war profiteering adminstration to use them as pawns in a game of global domination. We would tell them we value their service too much for it ever to be abused. And, then we would provide as a community a healing place for them to come how to....
Speeches and pretty cermemony are useless without a true committment to our troops.
We need to have a national dialogue about what our country has come to stand for against what we WANT it to stand for...And, then truly reconcile the difference.
