Police Arrest Suspect in Rosenbaum Case
he Associated Press
Thursday, January 12, 2006; 8:34 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) -- District of Columbia police arrested a suspect Thursday night in the death of New York Times reporter David Rosenbaum, who was beaten and robbed Friday near his Northwest Washington home.

The arrest came hours after investigators released surveillance videos showing a man who may have used a credit card stolen from Rosenbaum. A news conference was scheduled to discuss the details of the arrest, said Sgt. Joe Gentile, a police spokesman.

Rosenbaum, 63, died Sunday night, two days after he was found on a sidewalk near his home in one of the city's most affluent neighborhoods.

The stolen card were used at least twice Friday night -- in one instance, minutes after the attack.

2. Can You Say...
"Fall guy"? Rosenbaum's murder is sending up big red flags. I'm betting that this poor sucker is only guilty of using a stolen credit card - given to him by someone who told him to forget where he got it. I have a sneaky suspicion Rosenbaum was either killed because 1) he got too close to something big, 2) it was a warning to other NYT reporters or 3) some fan of Mann Coulter or O'Lielly took the comments about "NYT people should be killed" a little too personally.
