Why can’t the Left put two and two together?

The problem now is not Bush believers, but the left leadership that is taking a dive. Phrases like broke the law, high crimes, impeachable offense, & treason are commonplace all over the net and now even mainstream media. At this moment, there should be loud calls for impeachment from every Democrat in America, and out of 200+ DC Dems, the best we’ve got is one call for Censure?

Where is Congress anyway? The Senate returns in a week or two, but the House may be on vacation until January 31st. Did most of them return to their home states, or are they still in DC? Seems to me like they’re in hiding. WTF are they doing taking a vacation when this SOB is has flagrantly violated the law, and he continues to do so. Congresspeople, where are you!

1. First things, first.
We need hearings and an investigation. If they choose to stonewall, deny discovery, obstruct justice, and claim executive privelage. Then that is the time to start calling for impeachment.

3. Maybe because the people using those terms include too many arrogant
assholes?

Take a look at the first response to this thread:

and ask yourself again why serious people don't give two shits what people in the blogosphere say.

(no, I don't think that all of the blogosphere is like that. But too many are.)

18. Hate to disagree with you but
Where is Gannon/Guckert today? Bloggers are the ones that brought him down. Bloggers have also broken many scandals this year. Maybe TV news doesn't take them seriously but they are having an effect.

19. Yes, bloggers handed that one on a silver platter to the Dems, and what
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 12:41 PM by Al-CIAda
the Dems do? NOTHING (save the usual few, who deserve all thanks and praise)

This scandal had everything that the popular idiot culture would latch onto, and it was easy, tidy, and oh-so scandalous. Yet they let it die, and we still have no answers to the many questions in its regard. A freaking man-whore in the WH going in and out for unknown reaons, and also posing as a 'journalist' for cover- and is used as a ringer in press briefings!

Damn.

4. John Conyers is blogging
and he's working really hard. Nancy Pelosi is getting word out too. I'm calling my conman and reminding him about Conyer's resolutions and ask his support. Since he's a hard right repuke, his answer should be interesting-I'm hoping that his opponant will be able to use it in the 06 campaign.

6. Where the hell is Congress ....,is right!
Where IS our Congress?? most of the republicans are busy retaining expensive attorneys for upcoming Abramoff-related scandals, what happens in 2006 elections will predict how things will start to shake down politically, in investigations, impeachment proceedings etc

where are the outcries from democrats?, there are a few, but too few, you pose an important question

good post, and a great photo

Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 11:28 AM by proud2Blib
Get Congress back in session! Call your reps and let them know you want Congress WORKING, not taking an extended vacation.

We need to flood our Congress critters with phone calls, letters and emails demanding that they get back to work and opppose the delay for DeLay.

It is like everyone knew that shit was going to hit the fan. They are all laying low till the dust settles a bit. I can't believe the friggin Mafia run this country.

But you can't tell me that the leadership didn't know about this revelation coming. Can you say "two birds"?

11. If by "the left" you mean the democratic party
it isn't left, it isn't really centrist. Nothing will happen until they stop sucking up to corporations and return to supporting working people and labor like they used to be. There is really no difference now between the two parties.

12. Hopefully the members of Congress are working by seeking the
views of their constituents. I am glad that one of mine, Mitch McConnell, isn't in the state. It's more fragrant here without him. But I am sorry he is making an a__ of himself on tv. Let's hope the scandal against the Pugs gets enormous. I never like one single thing they try to pass anyway. And when they do return, do any of you honestly think that the likes of Mitch are going to do anything about Bush?

13. That isn't "the Left"
Congressional Democrats are overwhelmingly conservative to moderate. Don't help the Republican party redefine the language.

and misdemeanors are committed by the unelected, fraudulently "re-elected" President. Bet they wouldn't be so quiet if Bush started a war against corporations.

Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 12:44 PM by peanutbrittle
Hold on to your hope. It's important not to get the cart before the horse. The Holidays have slowed down the process and the lawmakers can use this time to reflect and set the adgendas moving forward.

The Republican party is still in the process of self destruction

17. Our 'leaders' seem only to REACT to OUR insistance and outrage.
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 12:30 PM by Al-CIAda
Only after 'we' discover what is going on through blogs, independant reporters, and such, is anything even considered. Even after the horror is revealed, you have some excusing the illegality/treasons. They (our reps) are far more apt to do nothing in the face of this clear and present, rising Christo-fascist state. There is no co-ordinated or consistent strategy to fight. There is no persistence of belief in convictions.
The corporate takeover is almost complete.

21. Why not use a Republican tactic?
If the one-month extension of the Patriot Act was passed with only ONE Senator present, why can’t WE push through Dem legislature the same way?

Specifically, HR 635 - "Creating a select committee to investigate the Administration's intent to go to war before congressional authorization, manipulation of pre-war intelligence, encouraging and countenancing torture, retaliating against critics, and to make recommendations regarding grounds for possible impeachment."

It is pathetic indeed, but i have given up hoping that the latest bush outrage that will finally cause them all to stand up and start doing their jobs. It's simply not going to happen.
