Enough of this "We can't pull out now, we gotta finish the job", crap.

That line is wearing painfully thin regarding Bush's plaything, the war in Iraq.

Everyone, including a lot of the Democrats on the hill, seems to think that ending the war is somehow impossible. It can't be done. There's no way to end it. It'll apparently just go on forever, because no one can think of a way to wrap it up.

This is a ridiculous notion. It's like quitting smoking, you can whine and moan and take a pill or wear a patch or try hypnosis, but the only way to quit is to stop buying and smoking cigarettes. Same with a war or any other human endeavor, if we want the war to be over, it will be.

Should we start a troop reduction? Should we stay until the Iraqis 'stand up'? Should we send more troops to force it to a conclusion? Should we declare victory or defeat and lock up? Is it really such a great mystery?

Bush wants his war, he gets it, and until someone stops it, it'll stretch far into our future and pull us all into hell with it.

How to end the war is not some mystic, faraway impossibility, we simply have to tell Mr. Bush and Cheney the game is over. We hired them, we payed them way too much for their terrible work, and now we fire them, and jail them. That's how you stop this war.

with it? It's high time we had a 52nd state, and what a state it's in.

Just finish the job? If the "job" it to plant a permanent US military presence among people who don't want it, it's vile to even think of continuing it.

Of COURSE we can pull out. Premature Evacuation will prevent all sorts of social diseases, pregnant silences at funerals, nasty fluid spills and even angrier coalition partners.

And like most rapists, we entered the body of Iraq without proper protection, without experienced leadership and with no foreplay. One might even suspect that the decision makers suffer from some very contagious and untreatable diseases. So we can truly say that Iraq got fucked. Got raped. Got assaulted, bruised, beaten and battered.

Just a few days ago, my local paper did a "ha ha" story about a couple of Marines who go fishing in one of Saddam's stocked lakes. They brought back a couple of huge fish (with photo) and told their story. Even today, when fishing, they go with other armed troops, they dodge snipers and shell fire and they must always be on guard. When they first got there, it was far, far safer. That part of the story was on page 17. The photo op was page one, and gave the suggestion that things were just fine.
