We need some controversy here: What's Ralph Nader doing?
It seems to me that DU is suffering from too much consensus and grace.

We're losing our edge and becoming too sedate and too calm.

Therefore I would like to say: Ralph Nader.

How's the moral equivalent of war against fluoridated water going?

What's up with the NBA officiating?

How's Bushgore?

4. No but I saw the various "Rove is indicted threads."
They were way too mellow.

So, for that matter, is a discussion of linguistics. Could we get any more boring and dry?

2. Nader has been in a very bad mood
He tried out for lead singer of Rage Against the Machine and didn't make it.

7. Look we are all proud of his work on defending Terrell Owens.
He was right out in front in frosting the Philadelphia Eagles for dissing their spoiled brat millionaire receiver.

We kind of know that Ralph's busy, but we don't know what else he's been doing.

Is he still working on the problems of fluoridated water?

Is he keeping up with his investments?

Controversial minds want to know.

8. Saving hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of lives
When he took on Big Auto. And his work today on various progressive causes still saves thousands of people's lives and helps them.

He's actually DONE more for progressive issues than any of our current politicians.

Keep blaming him for trying to change the system. It's like blaming a unionist for fighting employer and leading to the boss firing a bunch of people. He tried to do good, and it's not his fault it didn't happen -- it's the fault of people not joining with him and forming a true united front for what is right.

You talk about one random case to slander him, you could dredge up much worse things on a Gore or Clinton if that's the game you're playing.

9. Well, see, I've shaken us out of doldrums by pointing out the Repuke
Edited on Fri May-19-06 06:39 PM by NNadir
Nader.

He is the system, a media shill double speak fraud. He spent all of the early part of this decade appearing regularly on CNN to reiterate Repuke talking points (100% of which were "The Democrats Suck") with no further elucidation.

He is an embezzler, and a paranoid freak. I was angry with him before it was fashionable, when his unaudited PIRGS were skimming off my tuition when I literally had nothing to eat.

Oh, yeah, he didn't give a shit about George's oil war, or did he? Not a fucking word from the box seat at the NBA finals. I didn't hear a word from him, but I heard a great deal from "a current politician," on the war, men like Howard Dean, and yes, Al Gore. Yes, that's right, while Ralphie was holding a tantrum about the NBA, Al was making major speeches on the (then) politically risky topic of not surrendering the constitution out of fear of "terror," and about how the war in Iraq was an unnecessary and immoral diversion.

Why do we depend on oil and coal and gas? This is because the freak Nader - who told us back in 1976 that the world would be powered 100% by solar by 2000 - doesn't have even the faintest grasp on reality. He is a fucking lawyer - a shill lawyer - who claimed, without any grasp of what the concepts mean, to inform us about issues of chemistry and physics. In this he was a force for ignorance and unjustified complacency since he lacks even a modicum of education in the physical sciences.

He uncivilly lied about one of the finest people ever to have run for the Presidency, (Al Gore) with rote denunciations including comparisons to the worst person (George W. Bush) ever to have been in the White House, a person Ralph elevated by claiming he was the same as Gore.

Lies are not progress, baby.

Speaking of babies, know any that Al Gore would have dropped high explosives on? Do I need to post those pictures, or can you get them?

Oh yeah, I really, really, really, really hold in contempt the notion that most important thing in American history was the Corvair. I note that at the time Nader rose to fame he held Ford stock. It's typical of his whole fraudulent career. In any case, in spite of what they tell you on CNN, especially when the freak they still identify as "consumer activist" rather than "failed paranoid politician", the essence of America is not the automobile. In fact, the essence of Americanism isn't consuming. George Washington didn't lead a troop of starving men with no shoes and bleeding feet across the Delaware on the coldest night in the dead of winter for the purpose of consuming. Far from it.

In fact the use of the word progressive in connection with Nader is one of the first examples of a huge doublespeak lie being perpetrated by the American media, the kind of thing that would lead to equally ridiculous concepts like calling a logging initiative "Healthy forests" and a coal burning program "Clear skies." Nader and "progress," the root of the word "progressive" are antithetical.

In claiming to be progressive, and having uncritical thinkers buy into that self description, Nader made the world safe for doublespeak, but he has not been involved in "progress" of any type. The world is collapsing, and he has ownership for the lies that lead to that tragic outcome. Nader is, at the end of the day, a Luddite, a paranoid Luddite, a sick mystic with a huge stock portfolio, a Townhouse in Georgetown (how precious is that) and a history as a corporate manipulator. (Did you ever hear of the illegally broken strike at the Multinational Monitor?)

Nader has made the world worse. He is one of those people who will improve the world by dying. That he doesn't happen to be as insane as the man he helped put in the White House is small consolation.

Fuck that useless freak Nader.

I'm glad I got that off my chest. A little rage is appropriate here.

10. So he doesn't like Dems and now he's a Republican
Sounds like he messes with a dem hero and now everything he's accomplished is nill.

Mark Twain would've supported him.

11. Actually whether he hates Dems or not, he's a fraud.
Get it?

He's a fraud.

He has not accomplished one useful thing since pointing out the Corvair was a piece of shit.

That (especially as he owned Ford stock) doesn't make him a hero.

His "work" is made up. It's a media misrepresentation.

Except for shilling for the Repukes, Ralph Nader has done nothing useful for the last twenty years, except complain about sports.

Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Maybe they have heard about this in the pseudo "progressive" quarters, but there's a war on. And our atmosphere is in danger of collapse. Oh, and there's the little matter of bankruptcy of our nation and the destruction of our children's future. Our schools are failing under the load of "no child left behind" bureaucracy: there's no money for them, and no hope of money in the future. Corporate bribery now takes place openly, in full view of the world, and no one does a damn thing about it. Congressmen are openly owned and the Vice Presidency of the United States is occupied by the moral equivalent of Sese Seko Mobutu. Maybe you and Ralph Nader haven't heard that besides these issues, a constitution more than 200 years old, hammered out by men like James Madison, Alexander Hamilton under the watchful eyes of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin has been heaved into the trash can.

And what does the tireless "worker" care about? On what does he expend his efforts?

Terrell Owen's contract with the Eagles.

You people seem to have no fucking dignity. You sound like Republicans. You smell like Republicans. You act like Republicans. You are Republicans.

He just couldn't spout that lie anymore, not with what we saw go down.

That having been said, I wouldn't be surprised if he tried it again in 2008.

14. I got an email from him yesterday...
and he said... he talked with Al Franklin in NYC and asked Al, when he was going to run for Senate in Minn. Al told him, in '08. Then he goes on trying to sell "Declaration of Independent" paper for $100.00. You'll get 6... one for you and 5 to give away to your friends. I'm only on his email list because I donated right after '04 election... I thought, he was going to re-counts all the votes in NH. This whole fucking thing turn out to be fraud!!!
