1. In a way, the bad publicity Arnie has gotten from this
almost cancels out him not getting ticketed. Every rider I know of here in CA is pissed that he's getting off.

3. it's like a speeding ticket
if I was him I'd practically demand one!

"gee.. he was drunk and got hurt when his car crashed into this pole, but we're not sure he was driving it, so he won't be charged"

25. This is such bullshit. In Florida if they find you on the side of the
road, parked and sleeping off a drunk they can still fine you for DUI.

5. No charges
LOS ANGELES – His lip is still busted up, but at least Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's driving record won't take a hit from his motorcycle collision with a car last weekend.

Schwarzenegger was on his Harley-Davidson, with his 12-year-old son in a sidecar, when he collided Sunday with a car on a winding canyon road. Although Los Angeles police said the governor broke the law when he drove the bike without a motorcycle license, they announced Wednesday that they wouldn't ticket him.

"We have no way of citing someone we did not observe driving," said Officer Grace Brady, a police spokeswoman.

Meanwhile, the state Department of Motor Vehicles said that because his motorcycle had a sidecar attached, Schwarzenegger was operating it legally.

what other Californians who have been cited for failing to have a motorcycle license without the cop seeing the accident.. how they feel about this. The cops didn't see him.. so what? Ask him.. he was operating the bike. Ask his child. ask the person he hit. I don't get why the cops would have to see it happen, unless.. as I suspect.. it's just an excuse not to bring any more shame to their boss?

I don't ride donorcycles but even I know you have to get an operators license. Does this mean that during the films where he's driven motorcycles that he was breaking the law? That's sortof funny if you think about it. AND.. the cops can't claim they didn't see it, just hand them a copy of the movie.

13. They Can Be Cited Till The Cows Come...
home but in C.I./Mis cases an officer either has to see the act or someone needs to press charges. I don't quite remember, but I don't think eyewitness testimony is enough either. A witness must file the charge. This is actually one of the best and only legitimate ways to get out of speeding tickets.

8. I know EVERY attorney in Calif. has engraved this one in his brain!
So have all the Bike Riders in the State!

Arnold doesn't even have to drive a damn car! He has drivers who will take him anywhere he wants to go!

Dumbass should have said "I don't want any special treatment." He would have had to pay a fine that would have been less than his petty cash per day, and wouldn't have pissed off so many people in the State!!!!

9. If a Harley Crashes in the Woods and no cop sees it...
The "we didnt see him" defense is lame. Whats more lame is the way CNN and the media accept that lame ass lie. Why can't the governor have an aid setup an appt. with the DMV? I'm sure some poohbah would come and give him a private test.

The cop at the scene was starstruck and didnt cite the gov. for not having up-to-date license for class M, then they said oh but he has a license for a harley with a sidecar. Not sure about california law, but a sidecar doesnt mean it's not a motorcycle. Also he wasnt wearing a helmet. :eyes: Of course he's the Terminator so what's a little dent in the cyberdyne systems neural net software?

17. So they can't tag at the scene of an injury accident? Must have made a
report since there was an injury, at least in my state they would have to. Would like to know how that police report reads. He was pushing his motorcycle? I would like to know if they haved issued tags at accidents that they didn't witness in the past and how frequently. And why would they say that if it isn't even an offense?

To the Editor

So the Governor will not be ticketed for driving his bike unlicensed. Care to explain to me why he is above the law? The Vehicle code is quite clear on this, you need a licence to operate a motor vehicle and the governor admitted to driving it. He lacked a motorcycle licence. Therefore he should be cited, or is the law different because he is the Governor? Moreover, side car or not, that is still a motorcycle. The Department of Motor Vehicles is walking a precedent setting line in order to avoid doing the right thing and LAPD is obviously making a political decision. I can guarantee that if this occurred to any of us, we would have the book thrown at us. I guess it is good to be the Governor... the rules apparently are not the same. Is this just one more example of the Culture of Corruption now affecting the country?

Sincerely,

XXX
A California tax payer who wants the police and the DMV to enforce the law, not make politically expedient decisions.
