Virginia Senate Race could be a key pick up this November
I don't have a link, but I just read in TIME magazine that the Virginia Senate race may be the one to watch for control of the Senate since Democrat Jim Webb entered the race. According to Larry Sabato, a political pundit, most private polls indicate that the "real" race is 40-40 between Webb and incumbent Senator George Allen, who is coveting the Presidency in '08. Webb is a moderate in a state which is increasingly becoming purple as opposed to red. He has a military background and was appointed by Reagan as Secretary of the Navy, but he also has been critical of the Iraq War.

Everybody talks about possible (or likely) democratic gains in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, Rhode Island, and Montana, but even if we won all five of those states we would need one other victory or else VP DICK Cheney would break the tie. So we need Virginia and also other possibilities like Tennessee and Arizona to make it happen.

1. Webb would be a real improvement over Allen.
That will be a tough race, but if dems work hard and some repubs stay home, who knows?
