Role reversal?
My wife and I visited Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia at the end of 2005. One of the most memorable experiences was the two days we spent with the elephants at The Elephant Nature Park, where I started formulating the following idea...

I think that the national party's symbols are back-wards. While I can appreciate the tradition and current symbolism of the Democrats being the donkey and the Repugs being the elephant, with my new found respect for elephants, I can't help but believe that we may have those roles reversed. After all, elephants are more like Democrats in the following ways:

1. Both are very family oriented.
2. By family, I mean extended family, with or without biological connections.
3. Both are inclusive and social.
4. Both believe in supporting your family for life.
5. Both are quick to help others in need and quick to assist each other in times of trouble.
6. Both work very hard and are often under appreciated by the very people for whom they are working.
7. Both have been mis-characterized as slow or bumbling.
8. Both are thick skinned and able to take almost anything the world throws at them.

And donkeys as the symbol for Republicans?

Well, most Repugs I know are asses...

3. If only
It aggravates me no end that they get to use an animal that is clearly not Republican in nature.
