3. I agree. I thought Stone was going to take a JFK type angle.

7. i think stone has sold out
his political content has dried up and he makes crap like 'any given sunday' now. and if i'm not mistaken, he's made some rw-leaning statements in the wake of 9/11

10. From the preview, it looks damn good to me.
And as far as I know, he is as left as he ever was.

http://contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/stone%20slams%20bush%20reaction%20to%20911

Stone says, "There was an over-reaction after 9/11. Bush was given enormous powers and misused them. He created a war in Iraq that has further helped bust the economy, and has led to civil war there.

"He was the wrong leader at the wrong time. I always felt that. I wish I was wrong."

This is from WorldNutDaily, so you can take it with a grain of salt, if you like...

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=40632

Stone charged that Bush stole the election with the help of anti-Castro Cuban-Americans in Florida, according to a report in Cuba's Granma newspaper.

"When (Vice President Al) Gore lost, or rather, when they stole the elections from him, I sensed that something dirty was going to happen, but the harm has already been done and its extent is very significant," said Stone. "Now, I am praying that something of that sort does not occur once again. George Bush will go down in history as one of the great baddies."

Perhaps you have Stone confused with someone else?

9. Strangely enough
He'll get heat as a conspiracy guy forever for JFK (although I happen to love that movie and minus a few changes made it is pretty accurate on most info).

So if he does a straight on the government mark movie on 9/11, does that change the government's story to be a conspiracy in popular culture finally?

11. From what I've heard, it's a straight survival story.
There me some subtle intimations about Bushco's complicity or incompetence in handling the attacks, but that's not going to be the focus of the film. Stone is not Michael Moore, he's a storyteller. The story here looks compelling to me.

5. Did you think it was too soon
for Fahrenheit 911? I didn't, and I don't.

12. You do realize F911 was not about 911 attacks, but about Mr.bushetc?
Yes, it included 911, but was about Mr.bush and his evil minions/administration, etc. Just making sure.

14. Of course.
My point is that there was a good deal of 9/11 footage in the film.

15. I do NOT feel it was too early for F911 because of the topic:bush cabal
911 was only a part of it, a necessary part because of how the bush cabal used it to attack Iraq, etc. I was worried seeing it the first time that they would put more 911 stuff into it, but they handled it quite well.

17. Well, I loved United 93. It was intense and disturbing, but a good film.

Really well done.

I'm up for Stone's movie, too (even though it doesn't look like we'll get the conspiracy theories i was hoping for -- to get the masses THINKING about what really hit us).

18. I may see it but my wife already said "never"
She saw both towers go down from Hudson Harbor in Jersey City directly across the river from the WTC on 9/11.

he came upon them, and always an interesting, thought provoking film maker.

Just listen to the Special Edition of JFK. He'll tell you interestingly, every detail, and how he came across them...(Listen to his narrations on the disc).

Looking forward to his facts & insights. It will be great!

20. I'm looking forward to this
This actually is a movie that has me inspired whereas so far this has been the biggest snorefest for movies in a long time, and that says a lot given that there have been quite a few snore fests lately. This looks like it is a largely non-political movie and deals more with the human side of the tragedy. I'm impressed that Stone would go in that direction given his reputation, and I'm interested to see what he comes up with. Plus, I really like Oliver Stone, and lately he really has been in need of of hit movie. Perhaps this will be his comeback.
