Carbon Dioxide is GOOD for You!!
Edited on Thu May-18-06 02:44 PM by liberalpragmatist
You MUST see these ads prepared from the Competitive Enterprise Institute (http://streams.cei.org/) telling you how global warming and greenhouse gases are good for you. As a blog on Grist Magazine pointed out, they really sound like something from an SNL segment:

Energy

Glaciers

http://pointers.audiovideoweb.com/stcasx/ny60win16080/eresources/cei/Global_Warming_Glaciers-high.wmv/play.asx

Also, from Grist comes this quote from the founder of CEI, Fred Smith:

Mr. SMITH: Look, the point - what we do know and don’t know, we know that carbon dioxide is increasing. We know carbon dioxide is a plant fertilizer which is a positive benefit to the peoples of the world. We know that there are these elaborate computer models that have never been right before, may be right this time, that suggest climate changes, possibly good, possibly bad. Most of the indications right now are it looks pretty good. Warmer winters, warmer nights, no effects during the day because of clouding, sounds to me like we’re moving to a more benign planet, more rain, richer, easier productivity to agriculture -

KINSLEY: Wait a minute.

Mr. SMITH: We’re basically to a world now that’s a lot closer to heaven than hell.

1. Cool, let's lock them up in a sealed room full of CO2
and see how long they last.

This guy pretends to be an expert, but does not understand basic hurricane intensity. The difference between 28 and 30 degrees c is enormous, but he flat-out denys it.

More simpleton, laughable bull from Patrick J. Michaels: http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=15727

2. I volunteer to lock Fred Smith in a room with nothing but Carbon Dioxide.
You know, for a week or two. Just to get some empirical data on the life-giving benefits of carbon dioxide.

4. Folks should start following CEI members around with plastic bags & tape.
Just in case they would like to demonstrate the life giving properties of carbon dioxide.

5. CO2 is good for you? Because it comes from life? So do farts
And I don't see anyone going around savoring them...

7. I was wrong!
I thought my breathing difficulties and never ending allergy problems were because of the brown cloud of pollution covering my city. Boy, was I wrong!

I'm going to go put my face up to my car's exhaust pipe now to breath in life!

11. Nitrogen is a fertilizer, not CO2
Where the hell do they find these guys?

Oh, I found out where. Looney Toons central; the holocaust denier of global warming.

12. Um....excess carbon dioxide isn't a benefit to people
I've never heard such convoluted, made-up, un-scientific machinations in my life. (Oh wait - yes I have, I live in Bushco's America).
