Hastert Lets Cheney Have It : by Robert Novak

Robert Novak
Hastert hot over CIA chief's firing

May 18, 2006

BY ROBERT NOVAK SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST

House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, a 64-year-old ex-high school wrestling coach, ordinarily is not a shouter. But according to Capitol Hill sources, he engaged in a high-decibel rant last week when he met with Vice President Dick Cheney. The speaker was enraged by the sacking of his friend and former colleague, Porter Goss.

Hastert was so vituperative that a private session with President Bush in the living quarters of the White House was scheduled immediately (although Hastert aides said the meeting had been planned previously). The speaker toned down his volume on the hallowed ground and did more listening than talking. But the president did not slake Hastert's wrath over the abrupt sacking of Goss as CIA director.

That wrath reflects the feeling in the House Republican cloakroom that Goss, who gave up a safe congressional seat from Florida for a thankless cleanup mission at the CIA, is being made a scapegoat for the government's intelligence mess. But Hastert's discontent goes beyond the CIA. The GOP mood on Capitol Hill, particularly the House, is poisonous. With pessimism rising over a contemplated loss of their majority in the 2006 elections, Republican lawmakers blame their parlous condition on Bush's performance.

Cheney was on the Hill last week to receive the Distinguished Service Award, along with three other former House members: Lindy Boggs, Rev. Robert Drinan and Goss. To Hastert and his Republican colleagues, this was inadequate compensation for Goss' shabby treatment.

Damn, they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for that, huh?

11. Evidence of Distinguished Service on 9/11 by Cheney...a true Patriot!

9/11 Revisited: Scientific and Ethical Questions - Powerpoint slideshow presented by Steven E. Jones, Professor of Physics, BYU, on Feb 1, 2006 at Utah Valley State College. (See also: Scholars for 9/11 Truth )

OUTLINE
  • I. Physics of World Trade Center Collapses
  • Collapse of World Trade Center 7 (WTC 7)
  • Collapses of WTC Twin Towers
  • Comments: Temperatures & official reports
  • Molten Metal Beneath All Three
  • II. What about the highly toxic dust?
  • III. Bin Laden was blamed – did he do 9/11?
  • IV. Did some officials have foreknowledge of impending events? Timeline up to 9/11/01?
  • V. Supporting the U.S. Constitution – now!
IV. Image 78 What “ORDERS”? Mineta’s Testimony
    • Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta provided provocative testimony before the 911 Commission. He testified that he went down to the Presidential Emergency Operations Center under the White House at about 9:20 on 9/11/01. Vice President Cheney was there and in charge.

    • “During the time that the airplane was coming in to the Pentagon, there was a young man who would come in and say to the Vice President, "The plane is 50 miles out." "The plane is 30 miles out." And when it got down to "the plane is 10 miles out," the young man also said to the Vice President, "Do the orders still stand?" And the Vice President turned and whipped his neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?"

    • What orders? Evidently there were orders NOT to scramble military jets to intercept the plane, since the plane was known for 50, 30, and 10 miles out and yet never intercepted. The commission did not ask such questions, did not include Mineta’s testimony above in the 9/11 Commission Report a glaring omission (Griffin, 2005), and removed the video of Mineta’s testimony from the 9/11 Commission website (See www.911truthmovement.org/video/hamilton_win.wmv )

    • Mineta seems an honest man. The testimony of Secretary Mineta strongly motivates further questioning under oath of the principals here and of this unidentified young man.

    2. THAT'S Rich
Junior & Deadeye have made an artform out of treating former staffers shabbily! Hastert has even less of a clue than I thought.

    5. Forever more, the Distinguished Service Award...
will mean about as much as a used piece of toilet paper (if it ever meant anything anyway).

Doesn't that just f****** make you sick! Cheney deserves total public humiliation followed by a prison sentence to Guantanamo for special treatment (the exact same special treatment giver to other terrorists--but mostly to terrorists "suspects").

    6. This is election 06 strategy and we'll see more of it
Ironically, for this administration to survive to the end of their term, they are going to have to put up with congress and RWrs throwing them under the bus to show GOP candidates' independence, strength, and willingness to conduct oversight.

Saw it also this week with NSA spying getting congressional briefings.

    8. Oh too bad
    Hastert, you piece of shit.

Did anyone watch that late night vote last night on the budget and Hastert saying that people making $40,000 a year don't pay taxes :wow: so they don't need a taxbreak, but those making a million deserve their $42,000 tax break. I thought these SOB's couldn't go any lower, love it how they are openly saying byebye to the middle class, fuck em all.

    "exit strategy"?
