1. What about that oath they
take. It's to protect the constitution not the GOP!

2. It would be nice if the article gave us some Feingold quotes instead
of a summary.

4. A glaring omission, IMO

It almost leaves you with the impression that Feingold said something outrageous.

I'd like to see the actual transcript.

3. O.M.G.
"I don't need to be lectured by you. You are no more a protector of the Constitution than am I," Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., shouted after Sen. Russ Feingold declared his opposition to the amendment, his affinity for the Constitution and his intention to leave the meeting.

"If you want to leave, good riddance," Specter finished.

"I've enjoyed your lecture, too, Mr. Chairman," replied Feingold, D-Wis., who is considering a run for president in 2008. "See ya."

5. I'll make a deal with the people of Pennsylvania
As a resident of Wisconsin, I'll work to get rid of Sensenbrenner if you work to get rid of Spector. Deal?

8. We can't get rid of him. People around here actually think
he's a moderate, including my sister who voted for him in the last election. He fools many people.

6. What a legacy Specter will...
...leave historians to write about--The GOP's walking, talking legislative Astroglide.

That's what we should call him, since this is the role he has chosen to accept.

7. Didn't he stop being a protector of the constitution...
when he backed the nominations of Roberts and Alito? Hell... he stopped being a protector of the constitution when he backed the nomination of Bush.

9. Not to mention his spearheading of the Patriot Act...
Edited on Thu May-18-06 11:45 AM by Mr_Jefferson_24
..."Constitution trumps statute" was the gist of the specious argument he put forth arguing essentially that the President is above the law and accountable no one. How brilliant is that, invoking the Constitution in his successful legislative effort to shred the Constitution. Thanks, Senator Astroglide!!!!
