Martin Sheen for President!
The "West Wing' is history... but it was a 4 year audition for someone who is very presidential... and whose politics we obviously know.. someone who has an hispanic heritage.. someone with no money problems...
and we all know the family issues.. so no skeletons in closets...we've already had a HOllywood actor in the White House, so that wouldn't be an issue...
Am I only dreaming? Or is the best candidate obvious to us?
Let me know what you think!
President Martin Sheen????

1. It's possible if Mr. Sheen desired to leave behind his career and start
a new one. Glenda Jackson successfully made a transition and is now a leading Labour voice in the House of Commons. She's been a relentless critic of Tony Blair and I'm glad she made the move as her efforts are quite needed.

2. No.
I like the guy, but he has zero experience and with the mess left by the Bush Admininstration, whoever we elect is gonna have to know how to fix it.

that know how to fix it and a President wise enough to get them to work for the greater good.

3. I've heard him talk off the cuff and in my opinion . . .
You really want him to stay in show biz. He is a very capable actor -- which is one reason he was so believable as the hyper-intelligent Jed Bartlett -- but he's not exactly a mental giant in actual fact.

Like Bradley Whitford was quoted as saying when some misguided soul asked him about trade policy, "I wear makeup for a living. I have a favorite moisturizer!"

4. Martin Sheen has lots of experience being an American
Edited on Thu May-18-06 07:58 AM by shadowknows69
and that's almost good enough for me. Yes I want the most intelligent guy on the block as my President but failing that, and obviously it has lately, I'll take a good heart, strong convictions and someone who walks the talk unlike our current coward in chief. Martin Sheen has been one of the most politically active "stars" out there. Regularly getting arrested for protesting against nuclear weapons, a point of view which would be valuable in a leader these days IMO. Not to mention the guy had a real freaking HEART ATTACK during the filming of Apocalypse Now and he finished the freaking movie and was awesome in it!! Or maybe I'm biased because I'm a huge fan. I don't see where anyone has any better ideas lately. Hilary? Just shoot me.

6. Republicans practically felate the image of Reagan
and, he was not even half the actor that Sheen is... and was certainly no mental giant.

5. He's a liberal, though
If he's a liberal, anything bad that has happened in Decadent Evil Hollywood in the past 100 years will be called the fault of Martin Sheen & his wild family.

However, if Sheen was a Republican, he could apologize & write off any issues as "youthful indiscretions" and then it would no longer be an issue... and, if somebody does bring it up, they could be slammed as showing librul bias.

15. He also played Bobby Kennedy
in The Missiles of October. Sheen would make a good President. But we need a great president to clean up the mess this country is in now.

11. I hope not!
Martin Sheen is a good decent man. A patriot! The real thugs in charge would take his soul.....or at very least silence him. Look at Clinton.

13. Clinton was a Governor
I doubt his "soul" was completely intact when he got to Washington.
