A great moment from a High School performance last night.
My husband and I went to our daughter's Musical Showcase last night.

At this particular high school, the drama department is known for quality productions, so the 500 seat theater was packed. It was about 1/3 parents and the rest rowdy teenagers, although they were respectfully quiet during the presentation.

It was four "acts" or vignettes. The kids in the drama classes had written, directed, costumed and done the sets for each play.

Well, during a dialog, one of the kids said,"I tried to talk to him but he blew me away like Dick Cheney's hunting partner."

The crowd went wild! Laughing, cheering and applauding so loudly that the players had to pause momentarily.

Even as the play resumed, there were still chuckles coming from the audience for a couple more minutes.

It was a collective voice and it felt great.

It made my night. I hope it makes your morning a little brighter.

Keep fighting the good fight, all! :hi: MKJ

2. It was the inter-generational thing that was the best. The kids and
parents all loved it. :) MKJ

4. It was my daughter's last production. She graduates next week.
Whether its sports, performing arts or other activities, you've gotta love the passion and talent on display with our kids.

I'm going to miss going to the musicals and plays.

The parents were so involved and being around the kids was so energizing and just plain fun.

BTW, the drama teacher who made the program what it was, is leaving to go teach at another school. He vetted everything that the students put together and I'm glad he let them keep that little remark in there.

5. brings tears thinking about the camaraderie with the other parents
and his classmates and the interaction of all that. that to me is beautiful. Hate to hear the teach is moving but he has to do what is best for himself and family. I have several teachers in my family and I wished I would have been one instead of working construction and wearing my bod out. ^5's to the teach for allowing the remark to remain.

6. It's very a vert powerful feeling to be in a crowd of like-minded people.
It's so comforting and it gives you hope.

I love hearing anecdotes like this! :hi:

8. Hi Oregonian and yes, the crowd fed off each other at that moment
I need to ask my daughter if the kids on stage had anticipated the intense positive reaction to that line. :) MKJ

7. watch for attacks on the school
and the "liberal media" making assertions that the statement was met with dead silence . . .
