Two Ridiculous Theories I’ve been Seeing Here Lately
Edited on Wed May-17-06 05:10 PM by Stevendsmith
Theory 1: Rove planted the false indictment story to “ratfuck” Truthout and the lefty net community.

Do you honestly believe that Karl Rove gives a rat’s ass about Truthout or Democratic Underground? I’d venture to say he’s never heard of either. This theory combines paranoia and arrogance.

Theory 2: The media cabal is silencing the truth that Karl Rove was secretly indicted last Friday.

If Rove was indicted last Friday, I think David Schuster and Anderson Cooper would rip each other’s throats out in order to be the first to break the story.

6. I do bet he gives a rats ass about DU, though are are probably right....
I mean, DU is like 10,000 Democrats all getting together sharing news and planning stuff, so I'll bet its crossed his mind...And besides its not like Rove does all this stuff himself. He's certainly got his network!

7. I'll just take point one.
Do you honestly believe, in light of recent msm attention to left leaning blogs and the new journalism, that Karl Rove is not both aware of and monitoring this site??? A source point for the thoughts of thousands of democratic thinkers and activists???Your theory combines naivete and foolishness....

8. A year from now
or even a month from now no one is going to care one little bit about whether or not Leopold was right or wrong about this story.

Personally, I don't care right now either.
It's not particularly significant in any sense except for the sensationalism of the moment.

I find myself bemused and amused by all the attention being wasted on it.

Of course, now I'm somewhat guilty of the same by bothering to make a post ... but seriously, some people need to get a grip on reality is what I think when I read this tempest about this.

10. Just so there is no mistake. I am not diminishing the significance of DU
This is an awesome, progressive, productive community (which also happens to keep me from going insane with despair).

But, no, I do not think Karl Rove monitors this site.

9. dead on, plus I have another theory
Theory 1: Delusional and ridiculous.

Theory 2: Absolutely impossible.

I will add another theory, and this one is probably correct.

Anyone willing, or more likely, wanting to leak such amazing information would have leaked it to MSM media whores. There is no way a story of this magnitude would not be pursued further byt the press and if in fact there were credible multiple sources, I'm imagine those multiple sources would be willing to give up the goods to real media whores able to really get the story moving.

11. Agreed, and as far as theory 2:
the MSM could also be playing JL just to see what he's got.

13. I'd venture to say....
that as significant number of MSM journalists have barely even given a thought to Jason Leopold or heard of him at all.

I just don't think any "game" is being played here.

I think the Rove case has (most frustratingly) gone underground again, and the MSM have nothing new to report.

It's funny: I expected this to be a scandalous week, but instead it's been one of the quieter weeks on the scandal front than I can recall in some time.

12. another ridiculous theory
"Rove Indicted on Friday, continued to work at White House for 5 days with Bush's knowledge."

He would have resigned instantly.

14. Jeezus that is so obvious, and I never even considered it. Yes...
he would have resigned instantly.

As if Bush would want it to be revealed that an indicted Rove worked in the White House for (as of today) five days.

15. Theory 1 -
Agree, but if the indictment story is untrue then somebody must have 'ratfucked' Truthout and Leopold. Either that or it's a case of extremely imaginative journalism.

16. Well, since the WH and Rove are disinformation spin-meisters who have been
proven to lie again and again, I will still fall on the side of journalists trying to do their jobs.

I think it's plausible that Truthout's article may have upset an applecart, or two, by not waiting for the "official" announcement.

Time will tell. MKJ
