Dislike of everything American on the rise
http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/frontpage/index.ssf?/base/news-5/114784645160150.xml

WASHINGTON -- The United States has often irritated the rest of the world, but lately it's gotten worse -- and more dangerous.

In increasing numbers, people around the globe resent American power and wealth and reject specific actions like the occupation of Iraq and the campaign against democratically elected Palestinian leaders, in-depth international polling shows.

Analysts say America's image problem is pervasive, deep and perhaps permanent, an inevitable outcome of being the world's only superpower.

But there is worse news. In the past, while Europeans, Asians and Arabs might have disliked American policies or specific U.S. leaders, they liked and admired Americans themselves.

Polls now show an ominous turn. Majorities around the world think Americans are greedy, violent and rude, and fewer than half in countries like Poland, Spain, Canada, China and Russia think Americans are honest.

3. If they believe the elections were legit...
then they must think we're nuts!
Unfortunately, some Americans abroad can be quite embarrassing at times.

4. I have a message for the "analysts"
Analysts say America's image problem is pervasive, deep and perhaps permanent, an inevitable outcome of being the world's only superpower.

It's more the inevitable outcome of having republican scum running the U.S. government. These people, finely tuned by capitalism to be greedy, sociopathic, sharks masquerading as humans, are indeed a threat to you and to the other forms of life on earth.

5. furthermore
It is pathetic that 15% of our diplomacy posts go unfilled because we are so ignorant we can't speak the language.

Our country is at its lowest point. I have never been more ashamed to be an American.

7. Can you blame the world for hating us
with a nuclear war looming on the horizon with the chimp jumping up and down on his desk scratching his balls and waving his fist at Iran.

8. We live in Europe.
Hating American's as people. I don't see it. They fear many American's are uninformed. Yes. They have met too many visiting Americans. I have heard nothing but, Americans are nice people...So far. Been here half a year. We have made many friends too. Feel them to be honest. Does not mean that includes Bush. They call him an idiot.

9. Never trust an 'analyst' especially about perceptions here in
the Middle East...

There is a real love here for American culture AND products! At the the same time they despise W and other politicians with a furor!

For example, I had a pretty telling moment when my Pakistani friend and I dropped by an Iranian food shop to get some tea. They serve it the traditional way. You pop the cube in your mouth and then sip the tea.

Anyway, I got the tea for free. The guy was crazy about America and Americans... I also know Iraqis who are really conflicted... They love it that Saddam is gone and are glad America is in their country... I also know others who want America out as soon as possible.

It's complicated damn it!

Really, these 'experts' and their reporter buds should really give it a rest!
