1. On from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM Eastern time
I listened to his show on my way to work this morning.

5. Perhaps because of his breezy manner...
...and the way he refuses to dig into any of the issues? Before any caller can make a coherent point, it's thanks-for-calling-gotta-go. The show's not dangerous anymore, the way it was with marc Maron aboard. Together, Riley and Maron were great.

I still like Riley, and I still listen, but I've started flipping back over to NPR during my commute.

7. That is a prime example... over produced, far to scripted.

10. A script would be a welcome change...
...if it had some substance. As it is, Air America Mornings seems just to be killing time between lengthy, repetitive commercial breaks.

Rachel Maddow's sh9ow is much more satisfying.

6. HE is just the worst...
I did my best to get into it but all in all every show is the same exact thing. It is highly over produced, and it just comes off as he is phoning it in. I mean there is a point in the show where he asks the audience a question for us to “Call In” and the questions are so much of an insult the inelegance of those listening. Mark, “What do you think of this NSA wire tap thing, call in and express your views”... What the hell do you think we think Mark, do you know you are on left leaning radio?

All in all it is just OVER PRODUCED, and the seg-ways SUCK and Mark really insults the intelligence of the listeners every day.

When he was with Marc, he was good because he was the strong radio voice, alone he is unlistenable. I turn it off and wait for Rachel...

4. Thanks. Not sure where I have been.
I totally missed that he was on. I thought he had went away to write a book or something. I usually don't pick up AAR until 7:30ish, when I get to work, grab coffee and start their stream.

8. Some of the worst radio ever
Edited on Wed May-17-06 07:11 AM by DemNoir
Marc Riley is just plain awful, nothing but a generic and robotic radio voice.

The show is so tightly formatted it's ridiculous. It always sounds rushed and breathless. Sometimes they will replay an interview two or three times during a week

I guess they are trying to be a hip version of NPR. But, it's not hip and it's not NPR.

11. One of AAR's stupidest moves IMHO
I haven't heard Maron's solo show, but I catch the tail of Riley's when I'm letting dogs out. Not bad, but nowhere near what Morning Sedition was...that was absolutely brilliant radio. I always loved a dollop of subversion with my morning coffee. :D The only good thing to come about in Madison as a result of Morning Sedition's tragic demise was the introduction of The Pro Show with Lee Rayburn, a local progressive morning show on our AAR affiliate The Mic 92.1. It is nice to hear the progressive take on local and state goings-on.
