56% prefer Democrats to control Congress after the elections, sorry GOP
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/16/AR2006051601264.html?sub=AR

Public confidence in GOP governance has plunged to the lowest levels of the Bush presidency, with Americans saying by wide margins that they now trust Democrats more than Republicans to deal with Iraq, the economy, immigration and other issues, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll that underscores the GOP's fragile grip on power six months before the midterm elections.

Dissatisfaction with the administration's policies in Iraq has overwhelmed other issues as the source of problems for President Bush and the Republicans. The survey suggests that pessimism about the direction of the country -- 69 percent said the nation is now off track -- and disaffection with Republicans have dramatically improved Democrats' chances to make gains in November.

Democrats are now favored to handle all 10 issues measured in the Post-ABC News poll. The survey shows a majority of the public, 56 percent, saying they would prefer to see Democrats in control of Congress after the elections.

1. Let the Urosevic brothers know about this. They're the ones who decide.

2. Still, that is...
Still, that is easily within the 5 to 15% (or more) percent Republicans can dishonestly shift, either by means of magic electronics, ballot games or clever disenfranchisement programs to prevent Democrats from casting their votes.

3. Yes, & this is just one poll
I'd say all the polls and all the folks are turning sour on the GOP. I'll bet if you really crunched the numbers and just asked the man/woman on the street, it spells bad bad news for the republicans.

5. Agree, these number are still too close.
How anyone still believes that Republicans are good for the economy, the environment, education, and health care is way beyond anything I can comprehend.

Maybe it's just their fear of "liberals" that has them not wanting to vote for Democrats.

7. The problem is...
that many people are happy with their own personal representative. It's those Other Republicans that they dislike...

8. 56%- not really a huge majority is it? well within margin of error &
being manipulated by lies & the inevitable swiftboating that's bound to occur between now & elections. Sounds like there is 13% who even though they disapprove will still want Republicans to be in charge-- what's up with that? How to reach those people-- they seemingly just don't get the concept of 2 party system-- that you don't have to "like" democrats to appreciate that single party government sucks and its the opposition which makes the system work
