Will the real Patrick Fitzgerald please stand up?
I'm confused on who Patrick Fitzgerald is & where he was Friday.

Is he this guy, who spent 15 hours Friday in D.C. with Rove's lawyers?

Sources said Fitzgerald was in Washington, DC, Friday and met with Luskin for about 15 hours to go over the charges against Rove, which include perjury and lying to investigators about how and when Rove discovered that Valerie Plame Wilson was a covert CIA operative and whether he shared that information with reporters, sources with direct knowledge of the meeting said.

The grand jury hearing evidence in the Plame Wilson case met Friday on other matters while Fitzgerald spent the entire day at Luskin's office.

Or is he this guy, who was in Chicago Friday filing court papers implicating Cheney in the Libby case?

In a new court filing, the prosecutor in the CIA leak case revealed that Vice President Dick Cheney made handwritten references to CIA officer Valerie Plame -- albeit not by name -- eight days before her identity was publicly exposed.

The new court filing is the second in little more than a month by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald mentioning Cheney as being closely focused with his then-chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby, on Plame's CIA identity and on her husband, Bush administration critic Joseph Wilson.

With the two court filings, Fitzgerald has pointed to an important role for the vice president in the weeks leading up to the leaking of Plame's identity.

In the latest court filing late Friday, Fitzgerald said he intends to introduce at Libby's trial in January a copy of Wilson's op-ed article in The New York Times "bearing handwritten notations by the vice president."

1. Does the article mention Chicago?
The AP article says "Washington"

This is a test.

Did I pass?

That's why I'm asking. It was mentioned elsewhere that he was in Chicago Friday. I found two links to Chicago papers but the stories are AP stories from Washington.

Here's the other

Edit to add the link that says Fitz was in Chicago

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Mr. Rove, said the Bush official had no such conversation with the president or Mr. Bolten. Mr. Luskin disputed Mr. Leopold's Saturday story, which cited "high level sources with direct knowledge" that he had a 15-hour meeting with Mr. Fitzgerald at Mr. Luskin's office at the Washington law firm Patton Boggs. The Rove attorney says he spent part of that day at the vet with his cat and that Mr. Fitzgerald was in Chicago. A spokesman for Mr. Fitzgerald declined to comment.

I noticed it's Rove's att. saying Fitz was in Chicago, that's why I'm questioning it.

2. Here's a question
Did he file the paperwork in Chicago himself, or was it filed by someone in his office?

4. Isn't the Plame GJ in DC? The Chicago GJ was for the Gov. Ryan case
which is over. Isn't that why Fitzgerald was flying back and forth between DC (Plame GJ) and Chicago (Ryan GJ)? Now, he's got the Conrad Black case in Chicago. But I'm pretty sure the Plame GJ is in Washington.

8. More significantly, the 'court' (Walton) is in D.C. - which is where he'd
... file any papers relating to the Plame/CIA leak investigation and prosecution. Any claim he was elsewhere would be contradicted by a story indicating he personally filed papers with the court.

I don't know why this is rocket science to so many.

Rocket science has nothing to do with it. I was wondering where he was, not what he was doing. I forgot to add the link that said he was in Chicago.

Also I was wondering how he could file papers in the Plame case if he was with Rove's att. for 15 hours.
It's since been pointed out he probably has others to file for him.

Thanks anyway!

6. It's a Chicago station, but it's an AP story out of DC:
New CIA Leak Case Court Filing Focuses On Cheney

(AP) WASHINGTON In a new court filing, the prosecutor in the CIA leak case revealed that Vice President Dick Cheney made handwritten references to CIA officer Valerie Plame -- albeit not by name -- eight days before her identity was publicly exposed....

Since the Libby case is before a DC court the filing was made in DC. Now does Fitz personally have to file the docs himself, eh...that's another matter.

But filings in the Libby case must be filed with the court hearing the matter. That court is in DC.
