"Jason Leopold" isn't the same as "Truthout"
Does everyone think one screwup means an entire source of news is not credible? If that's true then I hope no one EVER posts anything from the NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times..........

If Rove wasn't indicted last Saturday Truthout should kick Jason Leopold to the curb and move on.

2. I draw the line here.

The NY Times lost A LOT of credibility from Jayson Blair/ Judith Miller. They continue to exist because they're big and they have wide circulation and a publisher with deep pockets. No, the NY Times' credibility was not destroyed completely and utterly for all time. But it was tarnished, severely, and trust in the NY Times continues to be quite low.

Edit: And if you haven't noticed, because I have, Leopold's Truthout editor vouched very firmly for the story.

3. truthout.org is an opinion blog, not a news source
It's no more of a news source than WND.
The WSJ and NYT are news sources.

I like reading Buzzflash to get headlines.
I'm not relying on them to "break" anything.

4. I wonder about news sources online
I mean, via blogs like truthout and others. There's no accountability, no editorial perseverance, and no way of knowing if any kind of journalistic mandates are being honored - nor does any liability attach, given the ambiguous nature of the sites.. Hence, it's probably wise not to trust any of these as any kind of reliable or trustworthy news sources.

But, people will, and therein lies the danger.

In the end, I trust the old ways and the old traditions. Like waiting for indictments to be announced rather than divining them through online stories that are little more than fairy tales in their lack of credibility.

9. I've been searching to find out where Fitzy was on Friday...
But no luck.

I know it must be easy, but I guess I don't know what I'm doing.

I was reading some posts on Truthout. You should check it out.

Alot of informative stuff from both sides of the argument.

That "Specter" poster over there takes your side.

Take it easy!

10. You could, you know,
call his office.

I've looked at truthout. I'm easily bored, I guess, but there are too many other, significant things to read, and most of them aren't online.

There are no other sides. There is no argument, because there is no indictment. That takes care of it.

Peace to you, too.

6. In this Instance HE IS
Leopold wrote the story, and Pitt published and vouched for it as the OP.. they are tied at the hip..

I guess this is the latest, "Uh oh, looks like Leopold shit the bed again, better start shoring up Will.."

Don't try to pretend that Pitt hasn't been vouching for this as CONCRETE, BULLETPROOF, etc.. He's up to his ears in this story..

And I consider it a shame that he attached himself to this clown with such loyalty, at first I was trying to keep Will out of this and try to warn him, Jokingly, which were taken as insults, which became a clash..

Pitt won't be taken down by this, at least not on the DU, but man, there are sure a lot of other sites out there..

13. I remember a rather extensive apology from the NYT
when Jayson Blair got nabbed. We'll see if TO and Pitt step up to the plate.

7. Truthout still deserves a hit for trusting Leopold
Leopold's article is totally outrageous and defies logic. They should've figured that out before publishing it. They got a lot of people excited for no reason.

8. The higher we soar the harder we fall--
like everyone else, I wanted to believe in Santa Claus. Unfortunately, I had to see the reindeer on the roof AND touch them.
I'm still hoping for the indictment--but one of the things we all need to do is remember to read closely, thin about whether stuff really makes sense and see what we can find to corroborate it. Sigh.

12. Ok. If the indictment is fake, where are the GOP tv floggers? Hmm?
Am I the only person who noticed that there are zero, I mean, nada GOP wonks out there trashing this "conspiracy theory?"

It's 3 days old, and no Frist. No Mellman, no Ann Coulter. Last time I checked Tweety was hinting all around about it, so was MSNBC, and CNN. Hell, Lieberman hasn't even said anything about it. Lieberman, who will walk across town to step in anything mildly aromatic.

Did all the GOP egomaniacs who swiftboated Kerry and regularly flog Kennedy just quit from political grandstanding? No more insulting posturing? They're just going to be quiet and stay home from now until the Nov. election? It this what you all believe? Really? Someone handed out smart pills and nice totems at the last GOP fundraiser and we're never going to hear them make fun of libruls again?

I think not.

They're silent because Rove is toxic. Period. No one will come to his rescue. Isn't that just a little bit strange? Bu*** brain no longer has the backing of the party elite? Did he get to thin for them?? They don't need him anymore, even though his job is re-election? They're fine, thankyou?

It's painfully obvious that everyone thinks he's perpwalking soon, and so they're all hiding behind their desks, staying away from reporters who are sure to hammer them with the big question: "Is it true?" Wouldn't you think, if he were exhonerated they'd be knocking each other down to come to the defence of the most powerful player in town?

The silence is deafening. The silence is all the proof I need.
