Bush Teases Australian Prime Minister
By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

Tuesday, May 16, 2006

(05-16) 11:55 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

President Bush and Australian Prime Minister John Howard met Tuesday for serious war discussions, but the president quickly turned to poking fun at his colleague from down under.

"He may not be the prettiest person on the block," Bush said in a joint news conference at the White House, "but when he tells you something, you can take it to the bank."

Bush typically likes to crack jokes that break up the formality of a presidential event. He also is known for teasing people as a sign of affection.

"Somebody said, `You and John Howard appear to be so close, don't you have any differences?'" Bush said. "And I said, `Yes, he doesn't have any hair.'"

The baldheaded Howard burst into laughter at the punch lines coming at his expense, but he didn't return the barbs to his host. The prime minister stuck to formal diplomacy, pledging his country's support in the lengthy war on terror and talking about the bonds that the United States and Australia share.

1. teasing isn't affectionate
it is a way of putting the other person down. Typical of pissypants to use that. Jenna and Babs don't show up much at the Casa Blanco cause of the teasing.

5. Making fun of the bald guy...
...boy, did he get that backwards. When you want to be funny, you pick a physical feature of your own and make a joke about it, not the other guy.

8. Sometimes he embarrasses me so much that I get that hot
flush feeling. You know, like when you've farted in a crowd or something (a practice I surely try hard to avoid). And I really resent being made to feel uncomfortable about things I didn't do and have no control over.
